I've read that the artificial sweetners are worse than the real stuff. Last year I was having heart palpatations, I was tired, craved sweets, and had memory loss. These are all side affects of splenda and other sweetners. I stopped using the splenda just 2 weeks ago. I am now using Truvia (a natural sweetner from the stevia plant. I really only use artificial sweetners for coffee, tea and cereal. When I crave sweets I eat what everyone else does. I watch portion size. Using insulin makes this possible. I believe it will take awhile for some of the side affects to go away.

I'm diabetic and it has been hard making the change from sugars. But I told my self that I will do it and I'm making progress every day. 20 years I quit smoking after 14 years. 12 years I quit drinking. they were both hard but I found if I set my mind to the task I could do it. You not only need to do it you have to want to do it, and make it your priority. If I can so can others. Just be positive. Bill

I watch the Biggest Loser, and they recommend a chewing gum that will help you with wanting sweets. I just can't think of the name. You can either watch the show or go to and get the info.

I'm not sure I will EVER get over craving for sugar. Sometimes I just think I need to tell my brain I am having it even when I am not. That is why I always keep some sugar free treats on hand. I watch the calories, but just sometimes a few bites of a sugar free treat will keep me on track.

Here are some online sites I use to order my treats from.

This might be difficult, but I have found that if I don't eat sweets - sugar - I don't crave them. It takes a while to get over the cravings, but I have found that I just don't really want them anymore - I would rather have fruits than candy!

Is it sugar or sweets that you are craving? There are atrificial sweeteners out there that are sweeter than sugar. You can make cookies, bake cakes, Make ice cream, cook just about anything that you can do with sugar, you can do with artifical sweeteners. And we tend to be a creative bunch so if it can be made, someone here has tried to make it and has either accomplished or failed at that type of cooking. If its chololate or somthing like that, there are sugar-free (Other than pure sugar) type chocolates and if so, you really like the real stuff, eat some, Just watch the portions and work it into your diet. Good luck.-
