I have been having a pain in my back where my kidneys are since Tuesday night. On Wednesday I ended up in the ER with signs of a UTI because the pain was so bad among other UTI symptoms. They did a urine sample, two sets of blood cultures and a cat scan to check everything out. The doctor believes it is a UTI since my cat scan came back clean and sent me home with an antibiotic. Today is Saturday and I have been having the pain in my back still but not as horrible as it was. Should I be concerned that I may be going into kidney failure?

Please don't mess around go and see a doctor. I know first hand what you are dealing with my wife has stones the size of a fist in both kidneys that they cannot operate on. She is on dialysis and that she will most likely die of kidney failure and she is not a dibetic.

Kidneys are not something to wait on or mess with. If you are still having pain, I would call and follow up with your doctor. It could be many things and if the antibiotic is not helping it, there might be something else going on.

Have you seen a nephrologst (Kidney dr)? Perhaps getting checked by a Nephro would tell you for sure about kidney failure and ease your mind if nothing is wrong and start you on the path to recovery if you do have a problem.

Praying there's nothing major wrong.

I myself just started to see a nephrology specialist so far so good. He said I was a stage three kidney disease and I could remain there for years. So don't give up hope on your kidneys there is always something new coming out.
