Help! Has anyone had this and would you be willing to tell me about it? Last Thursday I noticed black drops/swirls in my left eye - went to eye dr. - said it was a vitreous hemorrhage. He said many clear on their own, but we will wait 6 weeks and re-check. If it doesn't clear they can go in and vacuum the blood out. On Thurs. there was the big black clot thing and then a big blurry patch in the middle. Now it seems the black clot thing is decreasing but the blurry patch is my whole vision field in that eye except my peripheral vision seems unaffected. I've had non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy for several years, I've had floaters before but never an eye bleed like this. He has to wait for the blood to clear to see if it is from proliferative retinopathy/growth of new vessels or not, but he did not see any tears or anything in retina or macula, no swelling, etc. I'm scared about my vision because this left eye is so cloudy now. Does it get worse before it gets better? As the blood clears into the gel in your eye? It is terrifying to me. Hard to drive, read, etc. And now I feel like i will be scared of another bleed happening for the rest of my life. And this all happened when my control has been quite good, my last A1c was 7.2, and it has been around that or lower for the past 2 years.

My dad had his eye fill with blood at one point. He didn't have any kind of procedure, it eventually healed itself. He never felt comfortable to drive after that, but his vision did return.
