Well, first get your exercise, yoga, or what ever it is you do, in an attempt to relax! After that, here's what I do, and I do it quite well!

I'm afraid that since being 3,000 miles away from home taking care of Mom, I haven't had much course to have high BG. I've been having serious lows.

Why are you having lows, any idea why?

Mom's a sugar junkie, and there isn't much to eat here, plus she has me too busy to think about eating.

Have you discussed adjusting your insulin dosage with your doctor? I'm not trying to be nosey, but I personally do my best to avoid lows and highs. If you're not eating you're normal portions, then your ratio of insulin to food intake may need to be adjusted. Why take any chances? Bg is usually controllable!

You're right, of course. I can't talk to my doctor 3,000 miles away, but I've been noticing that my bg is significantly lower in the morning than it used to be, so I've begun NOT using my usual morning insulin. Thanks for being there. :-)

I can hear Jiminy Cricket in the background singing "When you wish upon a star…"

This is very true! Now you know my secret, and why my dreams come true! Oh, by the way, "makes no difference who you are, when you wish upon a star".

Whenever I admitted to looking at my toes, to wish upon a star, every one thought I was crazy! Well, you know the old saying "seeing is believing", Some people have stars in their eyes, I have them in my toes. In your case, guess you'll have to resort to going outside at night and looking to the heavens.

If you look closely at your profile photo, there are a couple of stars in your eyes, projecting on to your eyeglasses!

I am guessing that is your wonderful knee and toes? Relaxing a bit?

You are correct! Much easier then taking a self portrait, and I could see what I was shooting. Oh, thanks for the compliment, I find my knee and toes to be wonderful also! I hope to have them for a long time, and hopefully with no neuropathy. They really do come in handy! (-;

I'm not overly concerned about about high numbers on a single test or even a single day unless they reach dangerous level. I'm more concerned about trends and how to make appropriate changes. Usually short term changes are either related to stress or are simply an anomaly.

I agree with you. Watching trends is the logical thing to do, That is the entire point. It allows one not to become engrossed with their diabetes to the point of being needlessly stressed!
