There has been a lot of research lately over which is more important, diet or exercise. And the verdict suggests that diet is the most important for weight loss at the beginning. Exercise should come in later as you lose the weight and are able to exercise. There is also some suggestion that exercise makes us more hungry, so be careful if you do exercise that you don't immediately follow it up with a "snack". They say this is caused not by hunger, but by the fact that our body feels that since it has done some work, it need to replenish it fuel.

Join the party! I have begun a walking program to get myself back in shape, but it all depends on the weather here more than anything I do. This midwest weather is crazy.

Ahhh, the $64,000 question. :-)

Interestingly, we just posted a news story about this very topic. Here are the suggestions from the article. They come from the American Academy of Family Physicians.

* If you enjoy exercise, you're more likely to do it. Choose a class, sport or activity that you like, or work out while listening to music or watching TV.
* Find a workout buddy to motivate you and make exercising more social.
* Figure out the time of day you enjoy exercising most, and plan it then.
* Don't push yourself too hard, and if you're in pain, slow it down or take a break.
* Exercise doesn't have to be a dull routine. Instead, choose a variety of exercises that you like, and alternate them.
