Finally after 14 years I am getting strict control of my blood sugars. For the past 2 weeks I am waking up to sugars that are bordering on low. From 59 to 90. Bedtime is between 100 and 132. And during the day after meals I never go over 150. It has been a long time and a struggle. I have a Dr. appt this week for my latest A1c. Will be anxious to see what it is. Last November it was 7.0 and I came off of insulin. I am feeling so much better. I am sleeping great. Only waking up once at night to go potty instead of 5-6 times. My neuropathy in my feet seems to be better. Taking Lyrica for that. I am actually getting hungry now before I eat instead of just eating because I was bored or thought I needed to. I am not loosing weight as much as I would want to. So I have decided I will be "fat and in control" instead of "skinny and feel horrible". LOL. I am going to talk with doctor to see what he thinks. If anyone has suggestions I would appreciate them. I am thinking the weight is from the Lyrica or the hormones. But I need both of them. So hopefully it will all even out.
BTW the control is due to 2 different pills. Amaryl 2 times a day and 1 Actos. And finally found a eating pattern that works for me. Exercising too.

lyrica makes you retain water weight! I refuse to take any meds I find that makes you retain water. Being diabetic I am over weight, plus I monitor it because of heart problems. My dr. is also upset with me about not taking actos for the same reason. The januvia is working just fine. my blood sugars is back down to 90!! don't do as I do, just passing on information.

Good for you that you finally got control of your BS. I've just been diagnosed diabetic last Oct but I've known I might be for 2 yrs. I've tried (not hard) to see if I could control it with herbs & diet (like I said, not hard) but when I went to the Dr in Oct, I couldn't ignore the fact any longer & neither could she. After the first 3 months, I went back for the A1 number (didn't know what THAT was) & apparently it was too high for her so now I'm taking 1000mg of Metformin twice a day with Glyburide, a Provostatin, & Benazepril for high BP. I didn't realize how bad I let it b/cme. But maybe I can get it back in control with eating better, exercise & losing weight.
