I just completed my third body composition analysis and the results were excellent! I've lost 19" overall and 10 lbs. since April. I'm ready for the next step in getting healthy by meeting with a personal trainer at my gym for help in strengthening my core and reducing my waist and hips.

The body composition is done once a month by the nutritionist and/or other qualified onsite personnel. Measurements are taken of the chest, shoulders, forearms, biceps, waist, hips, upper and lower thighs, and calves. It is used to determine % body fat, fat mass, fat free mass, water, and hydration.
This gym, for women only, works for me because it has circuit training, treadmill and elliptical machines, classes (Zumba, piloxing, kickboxing, bodystep, etc.), and for those who wish to take advantage of her, access to a personal trainer.

thank you for the explanation … I had never heard that term, perhaps because I have never been to a "gym"

You're welcome. I don't know who/where else this would be done. My nutritionist tells me that these are just as important in determining overall health as weight loss—am I losing fat and gaining muscle.

Congratulations on your progress! What type of body composition analysis do you have done? Losing inches, especially around the abdomen, is excellent! ~Lynn @Glucerna

These are great results! Congratulations for making the effort and the right choices to better manage your condition! I just joined a health club in June and have been going 2 to 3 times per week and already feel more energized and fit! Not only is weight loss a benefit, greater stamina and strength, (staving off osteoporosis for us older ones), better blood glucose control and increased insulin sensitivity result from working out. Keep us posted on your progress!
