Just wondering if anyone has suggestion for food on the run? Like when I really need just need to stop in and eat fast food?

Today is a busy day and I only have enought time to eat lunch on the run. Then this weekend we are leaving on vacation. It is a 7 hr drive so my husband is NOT going to want to stop for a real meal. Yes I know pack a lunch and save some money and have good numbers!

Don't be deceived by the salad thing at the fast food. There are a TON of calories in some of them, so choose wisely if you get one. The less added things in it the better. It is hard, and to be honest, I have not found a good fast food place to dine. I try every once in a while, but now that I don't eat it anymore, it is all kind of yucky to me. (Thank goodness!!LOL)
When I do, I try to stick to Wendy's and eat about half of the salads. I get grilled chicken, not the fried or just eat a side salad. The dressings are the killers and if you are on the go, I know that hidden valley does small single serve dressings that you could take with you for some control. Get the tea or water and you are good to go.
I have not checked it, but Arby's has better sandwiches than fried burgers and even subway with a wrap might fare better than a burger joint.

One of the somewhat hidden aspects of a meal is the items that go with it. Be it condiments, beverage, bun, etc. those are the 'sleeper carbs' as I call them.

There are alot of places that now serve a better variety of foods. Try ordering salads, bottled water instead of sodas, etc. These fast food places should have these types of food you need listed on their menu.

McDonalds now puts the iformation about the items on the packaging. If you want to eat a hamburger, eat a hamburger, Try to keep to a little healthier choices if you can. Even McDonalds has salads. For a hamburger, I leave off the katsup. Its just tomatoes and sugar. I prefer plain tomatoes over katcup. Leave off one side of the bun. save a few carbs there. Carfull about ordering tea, some places have sweet tea. Not good for us. Remember to be carefull about ordering Diet soda, and they making the mistake and bringing you regular soda. It happens. Check first. If you can afford it, use your meter (not all meters will do this. Some will give you an error message) to check your soda if you are in doubt. It will read as high, if it is diet, it will not read at all. Remember portion control. Good luck with your trip.

Most all bigger Fast Food Chains list the Nutritional information of their menu's online, food by food. So when we are able to 'treat' ourselves with Fast Food, I first drive-thru the Website. And just as normal menu at home items, I have come to commit to memory all the Carb aspects, or at least try to.
