Ok, I know to many of us, this slide show is a no brainer. Choose fresh veggies, lean meats and cook clean. However, when you think you are in a rush and stop to get one of the "no, no" meals, it's not hard to see why our levels go thru the roof. Take a look at some of the carb counts that happen in just one quick meal.

berries are probably best
strawberry- 12
blueberry- 21
raspberry- 15
blackberry- 14
(1 cup serving)

all fruits are hi in sugar (fructose) and may spike your BGL so you probably want to make them an occasional "treat" and really watch your portion size

I have lived low carb, did okay, but then my diabetes jumped up and bit me, so I stopped low carb dieting, now I am better, but still have to watch it. I won't give up flavor, eating dull foods is not going to make me a non diabetic, so I just enjoy it and not eat as much. if I feel like a candy bar I will eat a small one, this is not for everyone, and don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with low carb dieting, it's just that I cannot do artificial sweetners, so sugar it is.

All I want to know is: When using a crockpot, should you use a 6 quart for everything (that's the size I have), or do I need to buy a 2 quart too? I got the 6 quart because a chicken wont fit in the smaller one. I do have people I share meals with when I make a big batch, I also freeze for future use. I need recipes for more crockpot cooking. I just purchased a NuWave, it will be here next week, and am looking forward to using it beings we have such hot weather right now, I have used one of these before and it is great. I am always forgetting to take something out for dinner, frozen to edible in no time. lol.

honestly most of these worst things are a decent meal if you choose 2 out of the three things they have listed like the rib meal for example ribs and corn fine ribs and mac and cheese not the greatest but probably still very close to ok if you control the mac and cheese portion

Gab, I felt the guilt. Hated the part that I can't eat anything I wanted. I actually devoted my time trying recipes that almost taste the same but has strict calorie count. Got some exciting dinner tips from I'd like to try this week. I'm delighted so far partnering my meals with DIY green juice.

Thanks Gabby!! A couple of months ago u spoke about taking lipoic acid. Did u say u bought propel??? Thanks again. Mary

I take Alpha Lipoic Acid in a capsule, I don't drink any kind of sports drinks, flavored waters or vitamin waters. Just plain old unsweet tea, water and sometimes water with citrus in it like lime and lemon.

Some of those meals under the "worst" category just need some tweaking. For example, one would eliminate a lot of carbs just from switching from a regular soda to an unsweet tea or water. Instead of a side of macaroni and cheese, do a side of steamed veggies.

I like your way of thinking: find lower carbohydrate replacements that are readily available. ~Lynn @Glucerna

I was not even focusing on the calories, but look at the carbs on some of those meals. OMG...Almost 3 days worth in some of them. That is scary.

Carb awareness is truly the key to better control. I've found that if I limit my carbs, the calories take care of themselves!
