This could be caused by sleeping wrong, having your arm bent a certain way and it pinches off a nerve in the shoulder area which travels down the arm and into your pinky. I had this happen to me a couple years ago and for days my pinky was like it was asleep. I went to the doctor and they explained it to me and suggested if it didn't go away within a week to make another appointment. It did go away and I have had it happen several times since then but find if I give it time it goes away.
Since then I developed another condition TTOS (True Thoracic Outlet Syndrome). This is caused by the very top rib bone right under the clavicle slipping out of place and pinching off an nerve that again, runs down the arm into the hand and fingers. Surgery to remove the bone completely takes care of this on a permanent level but there are less invasive treatments that offer relief as well if surgery is not an option.
I would suggest talking to your parents if it doesn't seem to go away after several days and see if they can make you an appointment to find the cause.

Hey sweets! I'm not sure what to say, are you Diabetic? If so it may be related to that for sure. I also had that problem with numbness, it actually gets worse, you'll loose strengh, etc., that is what I had and that is carpoltunel. And mine got so bad and bothersome I did have surgery. It's a shame your parents are not taking this serious. But it sounds like you know where to go otherwise? I wish you well and luck hun. Keep in touch. Love, Sheila

Hey mo1234, I posted a discussion just like this one not long ago. Same problem. I was typing and noticed it became totally numb, so I just chalked it up to typing. A few days went by and it was still numb. I finally went to the Dr. and he said it was a part of neuropathy. And really their is nothing that can be about it. That is a scary feeling. I keep thinking what if it just keeps happening everywhere. My Dr. said I have to keep my blood sugars in tight control. Which is why he is putting me on a pump. Mine feels like someone put novacaine in my finger, like at the dentist. But it hasn't spread to other parts and I can still use my pinky. I just have the numb feeling. Good luck at your Dr. appt. I am sure everything will be fine. It is scary though when you think about it. Your situation and feeling you describe is exactly like mine.
