You might want to buy a copy of "Guide to Healthy Restaurant Eating" by Hope Warshaw. It is published by the American Diabetes Assn. It lists diabetes-friendly foods that can be found at more than 60 different major restaurant chains. The book is big - more than 5,000 menu items!

My guide to eating in restaurants, if I am very hungry is to eat a small snck before leaving; also if dinner will be late, especially at weddings.
Made me think ahead!

I guess I am one of the radicals in our group. I will not follow any of the ADA guidelines. I have read some of their recipe books: and being a type 2 non insulin dependent means I have to cope with carbs on my own.I can't eat grains, pasta, rice etc. They do not seem to indicate that non insulin diabetics must control carb intake since we have to rely on our own bodies to maintain BG levels.
