Today in the mail I received a bill from the lab that my doctor sent all my blood samples off to. I was rather shocked at the costs of each test.
TSH Highly Sensitive Test $61.33
Comprehensive Metabolic Test $35.32
Lipid Profile2 $53.81
Hemoglobin A1C $40.75
Albumin Urine Microalbu $67.41
Creatinine Urine $25.03
Now I realize these tests have to be done, but, is it any wonder people like me who don't have and can't get insurance give up on taking care of their diabetes. This is just the bill for the labs work performed, it doesn't even count what the doctor office itself charges. I seriously just feel like giving up all over again, my levels are still extremely high, I'm on more medicine than I have ever been on for diabetes before in my life and it's not working in the least little bit and then to be charged such outrageous prices for tests that show us what we already knew, its just insane. On top of this, I am required to bring between $122-195.00 on Friday just to get my foot in the door to see a dermatologist for my legs. For that kind of money they better do more than just take a look at my legs, there better be something more done, but I'm seriously doubting that is going to happen…again I say, people wonder why people in my situation just give up on it all together? This is just the tip of the iceberg as to why.
