Hey everyone!!!!! Well after a 2 month or so absence I am now back with a vengance!!! HEHEHE…we finally got moved into our new place in Bellingham, WA, and I got internet back today!!!! Yipppeee…after prying my hubby off the computer I finally got a chance to get back on this wonderfully terrific site to say HI!!!!!!

It has been a whirlwind of a year so far…I am back to work again after being a mom for 2 years…and I have gone to work as a home health aide…the great thing about my job is that because I am diabetic I actually have diabetic clients call and request me because I know what it's like and I am on the same diet they are on, so I won't sit there in front of them and eat things that they cannot…as if…geesh…

Well the other thing that has happened recently is that my step-father (who has been afraid to even talk to me about my diabetes) was diagnosed as a type 2 himself 2 weeks ago…my mother (who is an RN) and myself have been telling him for over a month to get checked…he would not let me check his sugars with my meter…come to find out he was afraid of having to take insulin…I can understand that…I mean who wants to sign up for taking insulin 4 times a day on top of checking your sugar 4 to 5 times a day…

I finally told him, hey do you like your feet, eyes, and/or life…then for the love of pete go get tested man…he finally listened and as much as I normally LOVE to be right..this time I was hoping I was wrong…I wasn't…he goes to see his CDE on Monday to find out what he needs to do…for right now he is on metformin…see not that bad I told him…

So can you tell I'm happy to be back with all this darn rambling…

I'll be around…and around…and around…

For those of you who know me…Hi and hugs…for those of you that don't Hi and hugs to you too…

i love ur tato since i saw it ,i am thinking of geting one what a wonderful way of leting people know u are a diabetic ,i have never thought of that ideal and i love tato they are a form of art of ur soul i feel.now i do not agree on boby pirecing because they went to far with that idea.i am 58 and never had one but know a real good tato artest thats very carefull on how they preform their art tatos like needles gloves and stuff so they wont give u anything u dont need.the only thing i worry about is i hae contracted mrsa in a hosp when i was a pateint and i had this for 5yrs nows tried everything to get rid of it.so is it wise for me to get one like urs i really love it its so cool.

oohhh I don't know what MRSA is, so I can't really give advice on the tattoo. I just got mine a few months ago, and it healed really well…

Good Luck…

Vicki, I don't know how I missed this one, lol. You were about to move when I came to DC. Glad to hear your move went well and you're doing so good! Welcome back, Angie

Welcome back! Glad to hear you are connected to the internet again! Best wishes for your step-father. Has he checked out all the info that is available here? It might help him come to terms with his recent diagnosis. This community has proven to be the friendliest and most informative yet and I am glad I found it :)

Unfortunetly my step-dad is the type of person that doesn't exactly take an active part in his own health. My mom is a nurse, so he just expects her to tell him what to do, and because she loves him, she lets him get away with it. She is the one that has been pouring over all the books and will be talking to all the right people…he will go I'm sure, but will not be listening very closely.

I have told her about this site, but I am not sure if she will go on it…she gets neavous about new things…I told her to just come on here and read what people have to say…she doesnt have to join or write anything, just read and learn, then make up her mind on what she wants to do.

I hope she at leasts comes to read things on here…this site has literly given me back hope…

Blessed Be

Hiya there, I am pretty new here myself so I dunno ya. I am glad to hear you are back and happy to be back on, don't blame ya there that's for sure. I am VERY sorry to hear about your father being diagnoised, that sucks! How did you suspect he may have it may I ask? So yeah, I can understand your clients wanting you to assist them now, makes sense…would make me feel good too honestly… I miss working, I am disablied unfortunately. Anyhow, nice meeting you…take care…hugs to you as well…Sheila

Hey thanks for the words of encouragement!!!

As for my step-dad and the signs…they were the same as I when I was first diagnosed…plus a few…

The same ones were…having a Saharra desert in his mouth, having to pee all the time, wasn't able to sleep that well (due to having to pee all the time), he lost alot of weight in about a month even though he did nothing different, he also became very cranky about 2 hours after he ate…the one that I had never heard of before was the fact that there was mold growing in his toilet… I know this sounds strange, but I have talked to several diabetics from this area and that is quite normal for here. Up here in Northern Washington, there is mold and moss everywhere, but apparently with being an untreated diabetic the sugar you pass in your urine caused the mold in the toilet…like I said I had never heard of it anywhere else in the country.

I swear I learn new things everyday, but hey that is what I crave…knowledge.

Hope everyone is having a GREAT day and has a good weekend!!!

Blessed Be

What a great job to have! You are really going to be able to help lots of people with diabetes now. Make sure you tell all the ones with computers to sign up here.
