Just read about this in a news article. I had forgotten about it.

It is held on the fourth Tuesday of every March; this year's event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24.

What does one do on this day usually? Do we wear a ribbon or something?

Hi Everyone!

I did go to the ADA website and they had a page concerning this event. There is a link to a map to see if any local events are happening in your state. I went to the map and found out that my state, NC, is doing nothing listed on their map. That's a bummer. Here is the link.

Well, there is only 1 event in my whole state, SD, and it is free BG tests, but, its over 300mi away from me and it isn't something I need to have done anyway. Hope it proves to have something better for the rest of you in your home state!

Thanks for the post. If anybody finds out what we need to wear, I'm in! Does the ADA have an offical color or does anything go? Thanks much, Angie

There was brief information on this very thing in the SD Health Dept. Diabetes Newsletter I received recently, but here is all that it says:

"American Diabetes Alert Day

An estimated 39,300 adult South Dakotans have diagnosed diabetes and an additional 16,900 South Dakotans have diabetes but do not know it.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009 is the 21st annual American Diabetes Alert Day. This day is intended to inform the public about the seriousness of diabetes. We encourage South Dakotans to take the Diabetes Risk Test and find out if they, or their loved ones, are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes."

I will do some further research throughout their website and see if I can find more information as to what to do or wear or whatever on this day.

That is what I was asking. I read about it just a while ago. I have heard it mentioned before, but know nothing really about it. I was hoping someone on here could tell us the answer.
