I wear Crocs all the time and they make my feet feel great! Just curious as to how many of you wear these? If not Crocs, what other shoes are good for diabetics?

I just had a friend tell me that due to some bad management, Croc's is going out of business. Has anyone heard this?? I hope it is not true, I don't know what I will do without them.

Gabby, I almost had a heart attack when I read this. This is 8 months old but this is what reported about Crocs.
Crocs is not yet going out of business, but if they were a patient they'd be listed in critical condition. As late as this past May, the company estimated they would earn north of $1.50 per share for fiscal year 2008. That estimate is now down to break-even ($0.16 per share if you take out a one time charge for closing their Canadian operations). So, even with the stock down from $75/share last October to $4.50 now, the p/e ratio is high at 28 times this years lowered expectations. Today they announced the elimination of 75 jobs. That's only about 4.5 percent of the U.S. workforce, but is a sign of more to come. With virtually no debt and a fair amount of cash, they won't be headed to bankruptcy court anytime soon, but unless they come up with some successful new product or acquire a complementary business, this one-trick pony is headed for the glue factory.
I just ordered two more pairs of shoes from them and I get emails from them on their new shoes every day. if anybody wants the addy. Look for the crocs outlet, great prices, if you can find your size. Crocs can't go out of business! :( Angie

Say it ain't so. I LOVE my crocs. I haven't been able to find a more comfortable shoe in my life. I got a pair last year from my Grandma (the Avon hound as we call her) when there was a closeout sale. I then went out and found a knock-off pair at Wal-Mart. The ones from Avon were the real deal and have the anti-bacterial thing but the ones from Wal-Mart are just as comfy. We even got some for Mom when her feet swell. They can get a little slick in the rain but better than the slippers we were using

HI everyone, Crocs are in Dollar Generals, they're in all the places you would not look. Real ones cost up to 50.00 or so. Here in Melbourne in the high money area downtown they are up to 60.00. I wear the cheap ones. OH! Walmart has all colors and sizes Ladies. For men too!!!

Thanks for the heads up! Sheila

The thing about the fake ones is that they don't have the anti-bacterial protection in them. That was the main reason I got mine to curb my athletes foot and help with my neuropothay. So the real ones do have a great benefit.

I love crocs and wear them all the time. I have different type, so I can even wear them with a nice outfit. They do make your feet feel wonderful. I think you just have to be careful that you don't get anything into them that could cause an injury to your feet. As long as you are caustious of that, I don;t see any problems.

Ulgh! lol, I am getting so jealous here of all of you. I really have TRIED to find a pair that'll feet my big ol' feet and have not had luck though it's been at least a year or so since I have tried to find any. I really don't have the money now plus its hard to go all around looking, I use the bus (and HATE it mind you) and its such a pain, you have to take 2 to 3 buses to get to one place around here then the same to get home, anyway…by summer I will have to get out there and look. I am from NY here, but moved to the south and just came back here in August so have not looked around this area at all. Anyhow, I am just carrying on sorry ya all lol, Sheila

We were really lucky, we stumbled on a sale the other day. Buy one pair and get the second half off. What a deal. They are the most expensive shoes I buy. I have never been a shoe hound. So This way I was able to get one for my husband also. They do run very large, and you will be surprised at how you will be able to find a large size. My husband wears an 11 and his feet are very wide. He loves his pair.

I see in Diabetes Forecast that there are special "diabetes crocs" that coast twice as much as regular ones. I've been wearing crocs for several years that I got at Costco (for $20) when they first came out, usually with a pair of heavy socks because that's my style (and my feet are cold). My orthotics don't fit in them so these days I only wear them for short times.

I don't wear crocs but would love to. I have been looking at these shoes for quite some time. Do you have to wear socks with them or can you go without socks?

I can't do with out my crocks! I have 2 pairs - 1 orignal desing and one that looks more like a shoe. My only issue is that they easily become slick when the ground is wet … I have slid on my at the pool a couple fo times!

2009-03-10 15:41:50 -0500 Report

Beauty, you should get a pair. You can wear them with or without socks. My feet stay cold even in warm weather so I do wear socks with the winter ones. If you buy them online, print the sizing chart. These run BIG. I wear a size 9 shoe and a size 8 in crocs is still a little big on me. Euro sizing, so just a heads up if you don't go into a store to buy them. You'll love them! Angie

I have a couple pair myself, 2 regular crocks and one pair of sandal kind, I can wear the sandal kind all the time but I cannot wear the regular enclosed type of croc's as my feet sweat so badly in them it becomes an issue. It's not the croc's its my feet that are the issue though, but if I could wear them all the time I would, and its just WRONG to wear socks with them in my opinion lmao

Ohh My Gosh…I love these things they are so comfy. Won't give them up for anything. :-)

GabbyPA 2009-03-09 21:11:50 -0500 Report

My hubby bought me a pair a couple of years ago and I wore them out. We just got a second pair and they are great. You don't have to have mens/womens. They are all the same, so just keep trying one on until you find one that fits. You will love them.

lipsie 2009-03-09 20:59:44 -0500 Report

All I have heard is excellent feedback on wearing those BUT my problem is finding some in my size. I am a female size 13 wide, though I have not really figured out wear to find mens' cuz I would wear them if at all possible.

I wore crocs before I was diagnosed with diabetes and I love them too. I just ordered 2 pairs from the croc outlet for less than $20.00 a pair I can't wait to get. These are my first flip flops so I'll let you know how they work for me. Good luck! Angie
