Hey, I was wanting to get my voice heard on this subject just to keep it going, for one, and to talk myself into getting back into the routine of WALKING! How sad that I let the weather give me such a long break. My hubby & I were doing it for a long time just back in Dec. but we stopped due to the cold. We had been losing weight & inches & praising each other for our success; now our clothes are fitting tighter & we are in denial.
Hope we can get back into the routine for our own sakes & help with our diabetes.

Good Evening everyone! Hope this input finds you all in high spirits. I have lost a total of 4 pounds this month and have now gotten upto about 6 blocks if I had to say how far I am walking each day now. That is with the roads 2x the distance long as they are across. So that is like walking 6 blocks to me. I had Super bake of Chicken and rice for Super tonight and no desert. I will be fixing a peach cobbler for us to have over the next week. We just finished off an Apple/Cinnamon cobbler today from the last week. I am now working on a double wedding ring quilt and am thinking of making it a reversable one of the same patten on both sides with different colors for the main blocks. One side with pastel wedding rings on Cream or light yellow blocks and the other side pastel wedding rings on Gold blocks to stand out. I may add tulips to make it the Anaversery quilt.

Yeah Edie! That is great. I have really lost my momentum. I have not done any daily routine for a couple of weeks. I have been doing a lot in the yard, but that is not an excuse. Thanks for the inspiration to get back on my routine.

Hello Gabby-I found it! And Edie - it is nice to meet you! I was told that "new" blood would be welcome here so here I am! I am having some difficulty in staying motivated to work out but after reading your posts I realize I have no excuses because I too live out in the country, and I have a Wii…
Is this also a good place to log what we eat and have others comment? I am going to try to visit here a lot because I need all the help I can get! Thanks - off to the Wii Fit!!!

What we used to do is post every night or morning on what we ate, how our numbers were how much exercise we did. I would like to see that come back, as I get very lax when I am not as accountable. I admit it, I need that push. So I am eager for next month to start off right! Glad you made it.

Sorry I haven't been on here as much as I first was. But we got some news from the Dr. around the 16th for my Husband he is now called a Diabetic. Tonite his sugar was under 200 again for the third time since the 2nd. on that day it was upto 377 the next day it was 388 they put him on Janumet 50/500 for 2 weeks and then going to the 50/1000

I made a salad last nite for supper with chicken in it and also chicken flavored macaroni and corn with fruit cocktail with DreamWhip for dessert his sugar dropped to 119 he was shocked that it went that low. He complained of the Chicken in the greens but ate it any way.
We'll see what it is two hours after supper tonite with porkchop and mac and cheese with french green beans. No dessert tonite. Fixing a Apple Cinnamon Cobbler for dessert tomorrow nite. Using Biscuit dough for the cobbler top.
Gerry brought home some Apple Cinnamon dessert that they package for Chili's Restraunt. I hope it turns out good when I am done.

I am not online as often as I had been but will stay in touch at least weekly. Either Sat. or Sun.
Last Week I started going back to Church and Sunday School I feel better going then staying at home. This week I am going to try my hand at walking again and see if I can get where I am walking atleast one mile a day before long. If I start at our Tariler going toward the front of the Trailer Park and go up and down all of the streets in the front then working my way around the circle in the back and accross the back street of the Front of the Park that is one mile.
I will use my step counter to keep track of my distance and see how I do. I will be walking every nite after Supper and see if that don't help me to sleep better at nite also.
When I got groceries this week I got alot of salad makings and we had Salad for Supper last night and today for lunch. Bill said it was the best meal he has had in awhile so I think it will be easier to change his diet and make it easier for me to stick to mine. LOL

Hi Edie,
I have not seen you around for a while, glad to see you back on.

I am kind of excited about what I am doing. I have upped my morning exercise routine and it is helping the weight come off. I am also going to go to a nutrition class where we get 3 screenings, 8 classes and a 6 month later follow up. I will also get 45 min with a diatition one on one, and that is great!! All that for only $75. Woo hoo! And I get to take a support person, so I am going to take my mom. I am looking forward to getting this kind of help.

I will be going again this next month to the one at a Church in Kokomo and they are free. She said we can go to all we want to and after the class she will talk one on one to each of us that stays over. This time I am going to talk to her and see what other info. I can get. I also have a Diettition at the Hosp. I will talk to her also and see if she can help me with my meal planing to better get a grip on it to help both me and Bill now that we know he also is a Diabetic. Has been over 300 and 400 this past week. I hope the Dr. can help him get it under control so he can go into Truck Driving soon. He is driving me carzy being at home all the time.

I've had a lot of good results working with the Wii Fit program from Nintendo. It keeps me pretty motivated since we live pretty far out in the country and I don't have access to a gym or fitness club or even a walking buddy.

I know when my numbers are high I am often very fatigued and don't feel like doing anything very physical. I also quit weighing myself daily as that was discouraging, I've switched to checking my weight once a week and feel better even if I've only lost a pound — every little bit counts. Please keep up the good work!

I purchased a Wii Fit board yesterday! I am so encouraged and plan on useing it daily!

I am even requiring my 7 yr old to use it daily to help with some gross motor skills delays!

Good luck with your program. It sounds like you are off to a good start. I know that sometimes it gets frustrating when you loose slowly when you know that you are working very hard to get the pounds off. But stay in there. You'll make it!!! Again, good luck.

Hey everyone! Posting is kind of new to me, but I found this coversation and hoped I could join in. Exercise is indeed the key. When I indulge in at least one hour of exercise per day, my BS levels are much closer to normal than when I play couch potatoe. I also found that if I limit myself to about 150 grams of total carbs/day, my BS stays much closer to normal. Unfortunately I tend towards excess, so I have to chart my meals in addition to my BS. This is because if I write it down, I eat less and what I eat is more healthy. My diet tends to be heavy with fresh fruits and veggies, "sugar free" or "no sugar added" stuff like "no sugar added" low fat ice cream Tastes like regular ice cream without the guilt and very few of the pies and cakes the rest of my family loves. That is one thing I definitely found out: AVOID PASTRY. If you can't wassh it, don't eat it. And now I'm in lecture mode, so will shut up for now.
