If you want to eat like healthy people, you can eat anything you want, really. You can eat anything as long as it’s food. If it isn't food, don’t eat it. Here's how to tell if something is food or not. "If it didn’t grow, if it didn’t have a momma or a daddy, if it’s not part of the food chain, if the ingredients didn’t come up on your spell checker, it’s not food".
Of course as diabetics we need to watch how much 'food' we eat by consuming controlled portions but keeping it 'real' makes a world of difference in our bodies. Real food doesn't need to be boring, you have a world of herbs and spices to try to liven things up and those my friends are also 'real' food..

Being diabetic doesn't mean you can't enjoy the foods you like to's all about controlling your portion size…like you say Judy it works for me,and I jazz it up with herbs, spices and fresh seasonings, lots of onions ,garlic and a touch of habanero peppers…I like it hot…lol

Good information and funny too Judy! I have learned the value of spices. This is coming from a poor girl that never learned to cook. (Wonder why I'm divorced?) :) I am cooking now, but I call my mom and ask her EVERYTHING! She is horrified I'm going to burn the house down. Man, I miss my fast food! Angie

So-I guess Peanut Butter doesn't count? Seems I crave PB quite alot.

lol that reminds me of when I was a kid, one year for xmas I got this Mr. Peanut peanut butter maker, it was a grinder type thing and you put the peanuts in it and cranked and out came peanut butter. I'm sure you can buy all natural peanut butter but it won't taste exactly like the processed stuff but better for you!

Try PB from the health food store or the natural stuff from Bulk Barn, it tastes a lot better and you can buy the quantity you need without waste. Always a consideration in this tight economy. Real food can be cheaper especially if you cook from scratch. That way you can control the ingredients you put in.

So, those 7 pancakes the size of a dinner plate I ate for breakfast wasn't real food?? LOL just kidding.

This makes perfect sense to me, do I follow it, not as much as I should, but maybe some day I'll get it all lined out.

Good Post, Thanks Judy
