I am proud to be an American! The 4th of July always makes me think of all the reasons that I am glad to live in America and enjoy the freedom to live the lifestyle I choose. My diabetes is a part of my lifestyle. And even though there are some restrictions for those living with diabetes, I am glad that I have the opportunity to choose from several different options for my diabetes management. It is an amazing world we live in. Diabetes doesn't have to suppress who I am and the ideals I strive for!

We live in the greatest experiment this world has witnessed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYyttEu_NLU

What does happen to a people who are free to grow in their own directions, express their opinions with out worry of retaliation and where our greatest movements have come with personal sacrifices? America is what happens. And while we are facing many struggles in our own lives, it's still the best place to live, build a family, practice a faith and succeed if we but try.

So on Friday, wave that flag proudly, thank a veteran, read the declaration of independence as a family, and decide you want to be part of a solution. Oh, and enjoy the hot dogs and fireworks.
