I was put on victoza more than 2 years ago. I have had nothing but stomach problems since I have been on it. I started under a new doctor and she immediately scheduled a Gastric Emptying study. Said if my digestion was too slow then I should not take any victoza or other GLP-1 class of drugs, since they slow down the digestion also. Got results yesterday and I do have this disorder which is also known as Gastroparesis.

I have to learn more about this decease as it said it can cause problems. Now my one question. What, if anything can we do with our medications when taken off of them? I have an unopened box of Victoza. With the outrageous cost to be on it, I hate that it will be wasted by tossing it in the trash

Not a problem Calayx all honest questions welcome here!

It is probably more than you'd like to know right now and I looked up swallowing difficluty and the following was one of the responses ~

Try to take a sip of water and remember how it feels so you can describe it to your Dr when you see him/her about it if it continues to be a problem.

Sometimes I have difficulty swallowing but it is like I get an air bubble in my esophagus and it won't let anything pass. Eventually the bubble goes away and I have no more difficulty swallowing. It will occur to me from time to time.

Praying God's best to you

I tried a Victoza sample for a week. It really worked. When my Dr decided to give me an RX that's when I discovered what my co payment was. Sadly my portion was so expensive that I couldn't have the Rx filled. What a shame. Maybe in a year or so the price will go down.

You could try to contact the manufacturer of Victoza & see if they have any suggestions. Did you check with your doctor to see if he has any suggestions? Maybe he could call your insurance company or write them. These big drug companies have us all over the barrel for their big profits. I am glad that the Victoza is working for you - maybe there is another medicine that your doctor could suggest that you could inject that would work & be cheaper. Can Metformin be crushed?
