Do we need to do anything special for a bruised finger tip? I've heard all my life to watch for cuts or bruises on my feet. But then I think in the last few years I heard to watch out for your fingers too. I think the difference is that you see your fingers constantly but you feet you have to remember to check.

I happened to stab my finger this morning with my pump needle. I've been on a pump for almost 10 years now and this is the first time I have ever stabbed anything other than the body part I was aiming for. And the only reason I am asking is because my finger tip is now black or purple. I'm sure it is ok but I would rather not have to have anything amputated. I like my body parts where they are now, lol.

If it doesn't clear up like a normal bruise, I would check it out. Did it hit your bone? I have no idea how large the needle is, but it must have done something to cause the internal bleed of a burise.
All of our tips and toes are at risk, and if it is not looking better, I would call your doctor to make sure.
