Has anyone used Alli to lose weight? My endocrinologist just told me yesterday that I can use it, but I need to talk with a dietician first. I guess you need to severely restrict the amount of fat in your diet. I'd love some feed back on this. Thanks!

I have not tried Alli either but was to my dr on friday and she prescribed something called Precose for my type 2 diabetes and said people who are diabetic usually lose weight when taking it

Thanks so much for the info. I just called and left a message with my Dr. regarding Precose. Maybe it will help me as a type 1 also. I'll let you know!
Thanks, again! Brenda

Well, it seems Precose is only for type 2's, so I'm back to the drawing board. But, thanks for the suggestion. I really look forward ro keeping in touch with you. Blessings! Brenda

Alli is a very intersting drug. The fact that it is "approved" by the FDA doesn't mean it is a great product.

It basically prevents your body from absorbing the fat in your foods. Thus the bowel issues...if you take it and don't eat low fat, you will be a slave to the toilet.
I don't know that it is a supressent at all for your appitite. I have read that after a while (time frame unknown) that you will level out and it won't become so irritating. But they recommend that you wear dark clothing (pants) and carry extras for the frist few days. Hmmmmm, well okay.

Like Judy said, there is no magic pill, and if you follow a low fat, low calorie diet, and exercise are on your way and can save yourself $60 a month to boot!

Hey, Gabby! We haven't chatted for a while. I love your new picture. Now I know who I'm "talking" to. LOL I appreciate your comments a lot. The problem for me is that I have severe neuropathy, fibromyalgia, and the balance center in my left ear is damaged so I'm in physical therapy 2x a week. So, exercise is really not an option for me. Therefore…knowing there's no magic pill, I still pray for something that will help me get the weight off so I'm more healthy and can live for my hubby and grandbabies, of which a new little girl, "Maddie", was just born this past Monday. She is soooo precious. How can one look at the face of a newborn baby, and not see the hand of God? Thanks, anyway! Blessings! Brenda

I don't mean to interrupt this discussion . There was a woman about a week or so ago looking for you Brenda Kruse. She seemed awfully worried but I can'tremember her name.

I've often thought about trying it myself but have had too many other issues in the last few months to attempt it. I'm actually surprised that the endo said it was ok… happily surprised I might say. I haven't tried it but like I said I've given it some thought. I've lost 55 lbs in the last year and I wonder if I could use that if I'd have lost more. hmmmmm I'll be asking my doctor about this in May!!

I looked up the Alli information and it seems like the Alli would be an unnecessary component to weight loss if you follow their plan. Hmmmm Low fat, low calorie diet and exercise.. one would think that alone would allow you to lose weight without worrying about having constant stomach and bowel problems. I recant my statement of talking to my doctor about this product. I'll just keep doing it on my own. :)

Good luck if you try it, but if you don't stick strictly to the plan you better buy stock in the toilet paper companies LOL

Ohhhh I was wondering about that too, my daughters Ped Endo office is calling me Monday with an appt time for us to see a nutritionist if nobody has an answer before that appt. I'll be sure to ask about it…not for Laura but for myself, might as well get our money's worth out of going to the appointment lol
