I truly believe I could have met my BG goal of rising no more than 40 after dinner. But…No…I just had to get that taste out of my mouth…I sat there regretting that I did not get something sweet…oh but I have that sour ball…it won't raise my BG that much (really?… I know better; it can go up 30 points). I'm truly a baby at this…I just keep bumping my head. God willing; I will learn…

I have done this also. I knew it would not be good but I was ..I don't know what I was except stupid. I went to McDonalds - got a small fries & a Mocha Frappe. Oh, yes, I scared myself! My BG shot up to nearly 400 & it took almost all day to get it down. I so, so love those Mocha Frappes.

It takes time to retrain yourself Amy. I was raised in a household where dessert finished every meal and I felt a meal was incomplete without something sweet. For my dinner dessert most evenings, I eat an Atkins Endulge Peanut Caramel Cluster bar and add the 13 grams of carb it has into my dinner allowance which is 45 grams of carb. Another go-to sweet for me is one square of good quality dark chocolate topped with a spoonful of all-natural peanut butter…7 to 8 grams of carb for that. You're becoming aware of the carb content that you eat and that is a critical first step. I have faith that you'll be able to master this.
