February Diet and Exercise

I have changed the category to Motivation/Emotions because there is alot of emotions dealing with Diabeties. I know it depends on what we eat and how we feel as to what emotions we end up with at any given time of the Day.
Don't be afread to give your two cents worth here as it just might help someone. If you ate or did something that helped to bring down your Blood sugar levels then please share with the rest of us. You dont have to post what you eat or how much exercise you have done. We all do differently as some of us cant stand or walk for long periods of time But just remember no matter our helath condition even one more step than the day or week before is good for us.

So all I want to say is keep up the good work and try to do better each week or each day even. Post when ever you want, what ever you want and no one will condem you for it. If what you say helps one person then you did good.

Ok here goes I have not been very good this month so far. I went to the Dr. on the 5th. I got my lab results back yesterday and they are all high again. My BG is 300 A1C is back up to 8.0 now BP was 120/80 pulse was 80 and Cholosterol was almost back upto 300 the bad kind. So I really have my work cut out for me this next month. The only good thing out of this Dr. appointment was I had lost another 3 pounds. Lets see where I am at over the next few weeks.

At leat you have your numbers to work from. That is a great spring board. I'm sorry that they suffered so much. I know I harp on it, and Bill doesn't help so much, but the carbs you eat are high. I know it is stuff he likes, but my husband had to learn that we all need to eat better and though I still make him things he likes, I do it when I am making a meal of food he won't eat. Like last night he got corn while I had brussel sprouts.
We get used to eating high carb when we know that we just have to use more insulin to counter it. Now that you are not using your insulin, your carbs will need some adjustment.
Just looking out for you girlie...I want you around for years to come!!

As for me...I have been exercising my butt off, and my numbers are still up!! I am so aggrivated. My Doctor appointment is next tuesday and I have a load of questions for him. I have not been this frustrated for a long time. We will see if adding more metformin to the mix will help. I hope it is not the Niacin that is raising my levels, becaue I need that for my cholesterol. What a balancing act it is. Sheesh! LOL

Whew! I think I am finally back on track. Being sick set me back and then that lead to just being lazy. Now I am back to exercising and eating better. Thank goodness! My morning walk now includes upper body resistance and it helps me make the time go faster and keeps me from thinking about stressfull stuff.

Someone had mentioned that AM numbers might be high because of dinner and then lack of activity...well that was me.
So now I am adding a 30 minute walk about 30-60 minutes after dinner to see if that will help my AM numbers come down.

I am also trying to eat oatmeal every monrning...it still shoots me up, but if I only eat 1/2 cup of it, it seems to be not too bad.

I got the instant kind in packets and I love the flavor of it. Maple and brown sugar is the one that is open at this time and it seems to be ok so far for me.

I use the steel cut oats. I cook them in the crock pot over night and I wake up to a nice yummy breakfast. I can only eat 1/2 cup of it though or my numbers shoot and I have to eat something with fat also. I usually cut up an apple and throw it in there with some cinnimon. I can't eat the packaged stuff, it shoots me thru the roof. Amazing how something so small and mess up my numbers.
Yesterday, I came to the conclusion that Beets can no longer be on my list of foods I can eat. No matter how I cook them, they spike my levels. It sucks. I love beets, specially fresh ones. But like corn and corn prodcuts, they are killers for me. Even if I eat just a little. One serving of either of these foods, and I am done. Go figure.

I decided that I would watch a movie on my PC while my sweetie watches the Superbowl. One habit we both do not share is munching in front of the TV, nor do we get the munchies. However, we do not have a good exercise habit, either. I want to drop another 10 pounds, though, and the only way I know to do this is to exercise more than usual, and record every morsel I eat (I use a computer program called FitDAy). Fortunately, I don't suffer emotionally from having Type 2 diabetes, but the thought of otherdiagnosed medical conditions interreacting frightens me quite a bit. The solution, at least short range, is to continue to exercise (and not slump over the keyboard!).

Your right there and if we can help here than go for it. I have 103 pounds atleast to get back down to 150 pounds again. I got me a new set of books from Prevention and it is called the Flat Belly Diet, it comes with the diet book, diet journal and another one called reports something. I am reading them this month and then following it next month. Hopefully between the veggies this month and that next month my BG levels drop too along with some of the weight I want to lose.

We have started to exercise! Bewteen the gym, gardening, and baby-sitting my 8 month grandson I have put a full week in and have sore muscles to proove it. I do not have problems with high glucose readings, but while baby-sitting (at a conference my daughter was attending) I was close enough to a table full of treats for the attendees. Certainly a few handfulls of gummy bears, a Danish pastry, and an afternoon brownie didn't add up to 7,000 calories, did it? I did push that stroller for 2 hours. (And I enjoyed the spring air that was filled with the aroma of sweet wood-ruff that was poking through the ground.)

Super Sunday so I'm not even trying to count carbs. Will not eat as much as past years, but it is SuperBowl. Bad me! Will go back to eating right tomorrow.

I am there with you. I am making healthy snacks and some not so healthy ones. But just like the holidays, I have to be careful and just not over do it. We will see how I do. I have a recipe for low carb pizza bites and some veggie chips for dipping. Hopefully the game will be so exciting I won't be able to pry myself from the screen to munch. LOL Go Steelers!!

Enjoy the Game and then pick up the pace again tomorrow. Don't worry about what you eat tonite as it is only once a year for the Superbowl. I hope the steelers win also. LOL

I am planning another vegitarian month and thinking that Feb will be it. Of course I will have to start AFTER the superbowl party tonight! LOL.
I need a kick in the butt to get back on track and this really helped me last year. Cleaned out the pipes, got rid of the cravings and I felt really good. So I will be doing that. Wanna join me??

At this time I am feeling very well. I am doing as I please and not bothering anyone. My sugar level is not so good today but it is better than yesterdays.
I had a craving for sweets and decided to go with it. Now just the site of sweets is making me roll in the tummy. I guess that takes care of that problem for a while to come now.
I will just pick up the pieces and go on from here. If I don't post every day then I will atleast once a week from now on and not the same day of the week either. Have a good month of Feb. everyone and I hope your weight and numbers start to fall.
