I think it is informative and hope it is helpful, especially for those on MDI (Multiple Daily Injections). (We pumpers have fewer calculations because our pump automatically calculates what the meal bolus should be based on current BG and carb to insulin ratio and the carbs entered…)

Thanks for sharing this article. I've also seen one additional step added to these calculations: grams of carbohydrate to be consumed at the meal. Paying attention to carbohydrate intake makes these calculations more similar to what pumpers use. It's also important to note that there isn't just one sliding scale, and that each person needs an individual plan developed for them by their physician and/or diabetes educator. ~Lynn @Glucerna
