She has had a great school year as usual, Just completed the sixth grade and got all A's on her report card. She was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society back in the Spring and has taken some advanced classes. I am so proud of her! I would be anyway, but I was not quite as determined in school as she is, I got good grades, but not honor roll all the time.

That is great. I was in the National Honor Society (Still have my pins) so I know how she feels to make that accomplishment. Good for both of you!!

I too have an off topic request -I just got my scribe badge for writing back to 5 people and having them like what I had to say. Thank you very much for liking my opinions. Now for my request: I still can't figure out how to make friends. Please give this old granny specific instructions on how to make friends of those that are writing to me in the discussions. Thank you.

Hi RebDee,

Go to someone's profile page (just click on their nickname), and you will see a blue "Connect" box just down a couple of lines from their picture. Click on Connect and you will have the choice of either following them or sending a friend request.

I just sent you a request. I hope we can be friends.

And congratulations on your Scribe badge. You are on your way!

she will keep it up, they are two different personalities, my children. my son is grown and has been a few yrs. But I always praised him for his accomplishments, though he did not have the drive and ambition that she does. I love how she was into several clubs and in the band, this will help her so much through school. She already wants to get scholarships and talks often about college. it was such a struggle with my son in middle and high school all those yrs, and having to just stay on him and all of that, and I don't ever have to tell her to do home work. I went through even more that than with him by the time high school rolled around, so there is much more and I just thank God that he is doing well now and that she is too.

tabby, you're obviously a deeply involved, and very concerned mom! That's a large part of the battle. I really believe that children feel that deep in their psyche, eventually, and in time if not immediately. I've seen the results 1st hand with my daughter, who is now an adult with her own two sons. Looks like you're doing just fine!!!

This is really good…I loved school, at 12 years of age I would tutor.
Congratulations to you and HER!

Congratulations to your daughter. As the mother of 4 adult daughters and grandmother of 5 great grandchildren, I find something to be proud of in each of them all the time. My second grandson just graduated 5th grade and is going into middle school now. He has hypotonia and has almost no hand-eye coordination but is smart as a whip and he is the one to whom I go for help with my cell phone and the apps.

Congrats to you and your daughter. I hope she continues to keep her grades up. I have a grand daughter (my oldest) who kept her grades up all the way through the 12th grade and won a scholarship for college. I hope your daughter makes it too. I wish my daughters had, but alas I didn't either.

Congrats to you and your daughter. I hope she keeps it up. There is a lot pf pressure on girls to not be successful.

This is especially sweet because my son, years ago, once he got to middle school, he just did not do his best and his grades were up and down. it was always a struggle having to stay on him all the time. I don't have to with her.
