Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I found another article that talks about one research study using yakon syrup: http://authoritynutrition.com/does-yacon-syru... and gives more in-depth information about the inulin and fructooligosaccharides in yakon syrup that may be the reason for weight loss. More research needs to be done, but it's an interesting idea. ~Lynn @Glucerna

I have never heard of this, but found it to be very interesting upon reading up on it. Anything that the body cannot breakdown tends to cause tummy issues of some kind. So it might just depend on how your stomach can handle it. But I don't see how it would be used to loose weight. I guess just adding it to your diet might be okay.

This may be terrible but when I read the article about yacon & where it grows the first thing I thought of was: there's another environment & habitat that will be ruined.
Sorry. Ann

Howdy Jim.
I had not heard of this plant or the syrup which is produced from it.

This is probably more than you'd ever want to know about Yacon, but I found this information from a Google search. ~ http://www.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=139... (to page 123)

I think it is fascinating reading about this plant I had never heard of previouisly. (I don't follow Dr Oz or watch a lot of TV.)

Most of the returns on a Google query seem to be positive promotional pieces about this. That may be because it is so new on the market. It may take some time to get some reviews which may tell of difficulties encountered from taking this syrup for the purpose of weight loss.

If all you need is to lose 25 lbs you might be better served by changing your meal plan to a high protein, low carb meal plan. I have one which I follow myself for the past 3 yrs, and I lost 65 lbs in the first 5 mo, and my Blood Glucose (BG) levels were normalized and my A1c was in the 5s all without the use of diabetes meds. I will share it with you should you request.

God's best to you and yours
James Baker

Thanks for your answer to my question.I did find even more inflo. on this root. The down side is possible negative results to our stomach and bowel and the cost.I will wait and see what happens with this in the future.
You are doing great and thanks for your offer but my wife is a great cook and as you might have guessed l love good food.
A1c is o.k. as well as blood pressure so at my age, every day is a gift that i am enjoying.
