Was this an online article or hard copy? It would have been interesting to read that article. I haven't been able to even find NYU Longmont or the article to which you refer from a Google search,

However I did query the search engine here on DC and I found a good reference for the discussion to which you refer here ~ Quite an extensive bit of research JAM - 30801 shared with us 5 or 6 yrs ago.

I might need to look further into this as my neuro is quite pesky.

I use ALA for mine, but have used L-carnitine with chromium for weight loss...but it really didn't help much. So I have not heard of the acetyl version of it.
