God this hospital I go to, sucks!!

So I'm newly diagnosed and I all sudden get a call; stating I need a diabetes physical exam. I scheduled one and chose the afternoon. Now I just all sudden thought what if I have to fast for blood work? I thought no because I've done an 3 month a1c and one glucose test before being diagnosed. Now I am calling the hospital to see if a fasting is involved and no one has an idea! Why are these people working at the hospital when they can't give me any damn advice and or know what entails in an physical exam for diabetes? So frustrating!!!!

One of the nurses recommended me that if I can't wait (2:20pm appointment); that I eat that day and schedule another day to fast. Hello!! I work again! I don't have all the time in the world!

I wish people scheduling would Atleast give me a heads up I need to fast so I could set up an earlier time. I called to schedule it earlier too and now they're all filled up. I'm totally switching hospitals: sory I had to vent!

So..question is: has anyone had blood test/work and had to fast before a physical exam for diabetes? Ugh

Update: so I didn't need to fast so I don't know know where the hell these nurses told me I had to. Again, with each visit, I am taken off or cut off another med. I no longer take any more glipizide unless my bs's are high.

Howdy Dagger
It depends on what kind of test the Dr has planned.

The best place to call is the Dr's office and speak to the nurse and ask her to see if the testing Dr plans needs for you to fast.
