Victoza delays stomach emptying. Does that affect the timing of mealtime insulin. Should it be delayed since stomach emptying is delayed?

Victoza works slowly over a 24-hour period, and while it shouldn't affect the timing of mealtime insulin, it's really best to talk with your doctor to find out her recommendations. ~Lynn @Glucerna

I really hate to sound rude but . . .
How can anybody on here answer that for you ?
Only your doc can do that.

That was a rude answer. And I am not stupid. I probably should have worded it this way: Does anyone have trouble taking fast acting insulin before a meal while on Victoza? Do you find your blood sugar spikes after the insulin wears off because your stomach is slowly empyting its contents. Has anyone had to adjust when they take their mealtime insulin. I hope this question is satisfactory

Typically doctors reduce the amount of insulin you take when you start using Victoza. That's because Victoza works slowly over a 25-hour period, so in theory you should need less insulin. Be sure to talk with your doctor and get her recommendation for your individual situation. ~Lynn @Glucerna

Really, Vixen, that is a question best answered by your Dr or perhaps a Pharmacist..

God's best to you and yours
