Has anyone used Symlin with success for weight loss? I've done some research on it and even asked my doctor but the thought of a secondary shot is not ideal! Currently I'm using a 530g with Novolog and I shutter to think of doing multiple injections a day all for the sake of losing more weight. So far I've lost about 20lbs, I'm running 18-36miles a week and I'm not sure how else to shed more weight other than add more running but that doesn't seem like the right solution to my problem. Any thoughts?!

Years ago I tried Symlin . . . . it was a bad experience for me.
What do you mean by " I'm using a 530g with Novolog " ~ 530 g of what?

Hey Jay, thanks for the response.

To your point, I'm only taking in 30-35units of Novolog for both basal and bolus combined. My carb intake seems really low, in fact I'm taking in about 1500 calories a day with about 145-185 grams of protein. I definitely have read about how excess insulin can add weight and feels like I've removed excess carbs and reduced additional insulin as necessary. In fact, for a short period I was using a lowered temp basal to help counter act mild low blood sugar until my doc told me it was a bad idea.

Considering I'm a T1D I really don't know what else I can do besides looking at something like Symlin.

Thanks again for your thoughts!

As a T2D I really wouldn't have an idea as to what else to try.

Praying success on whatever it is you try!

Howdy Dominick
May I suggest a lowering of your carb intake as a way of losing fat? Insulin has a secondary effect of putting excess glucose into storage as fat. Lowering one's carb intake is a way of keeping one's Blood Glucose (BG) down.

I am a T2 who was on NPH insulin for about 4 yrs but was able to get off the insulin by eating a high protein low carb meal plan. I lost 65 lbs within 5 months of starting that plan. Should you be interested I can share it with you.

God's best to you and yours
