Blanket Love
Hello All! I know some of us are having difficulties with the change in the weather but do not dispair. You do have family to talk to and prayerfully, this is over this weekend and we can all get out and get some fresh air. I went out to hang some clothes just to get out the house. I did go out yesterday to cover some of my expensive plants. Yes, they are still covered due to tonight. So, if you are not in the mood to talk to some of your friends grab a book or put on some music and dance to it its exercise as well. Or do somethings that you haven't had time to do. Lets not allow depression to creep into our bones and start us on an adventure of eating bens or thinking about things that otherwise we have no time to think about. JUST A LITTLE HUG FOR YOU ALL.

Good post and Thanks.
Dancing is a great way to boost your spirits. I have a "Bellydancing for Dummies" dvd to try. My husband is a musician, so music is a staple in our house. I'm 58, but still watch MTV. I live in No Calif, so I am spoiled by our weather.
Kate
I actually like bellydancing, I have been doing it since I was 10 years old.
I live in a manufactured home park in a Seattle suburb and we're not officially allowed to hang our clother to dry outside. That is the most stupid rule I have seen in a long time, so I had my husband hang a cord on our porch so I could hang sheets and towels. In this day of global warming, high energy costs, needing to exercise, etc. why should we not do what little we can do to make a difference?
Not all of us can be so active this way, and certainly the weather doesn't cooperate much of the year. But we can move a bit, if not a lot… and, there's always the Goldie Oldie radio station where we know the words to the songs. I read a research summary this morning that when we hear this music our minds return to the days of yester-year. So, dance… one way or another!
You got that right. And for those of us who aren't percussionists, we can also play air drums to the Golden Oldies…ie…hahahahaha…WIPE OUT.
Ken, It's one thing to be able to play "Wipe Out" on the "air drums", but can you dance to it? And I mean physically dance to it!!!! LOL Not just dance to it in your head. LOL I know that there is alot of empty space in your head, so you would have alot of room to dance, and alot of air. lol
Hey you know my parents used to be able to. They are from that day and both are dancers. My dad used to square dance on the grand ole opry. My sister can too. She is a dance instructor and choreographer. I can but I don't like the song. I guess it is not my era.
That is from my era and I have danced to it in my time, but my time has long since passed. It is really beginning to soak in that not only am I no longer a teen-ager, but I have passed it by many times over!!! LOL
Mary, they say an empty barrel makes the most noise.
Well, you are coming in LOUD AND CLEAR!!!! LOL I'm sorry, I just can't resist it when you leave yourself open like that!!!
oh LOL!!!!!!!!!
Come on Mary you know you still got it. Just put that music on you will start to feel it. Get up there and try your best. You like that music then just put it on and do it to it.
My mind says yes, my knees say no!!! And I've been told my mind only works half the time!!! LOL
I sure hope I'm around to witness you when your mind is working! What a breath of fresh air that will be.
Yeah I can relate to the mind thing. If you have kids you don't have much mind left anyways. There is no way around it. You start out thinking I am going to pass my wisdom on to my kids. Then they run you crazy and you have no wisdom left.LOL
I'm fond of saying that my kids got their intelligence from me…because I no longer have any.
ahhhahhha that's a good one. Next time one of my boys says I have lost my mind I'll say yep and you got your intelligence from me. I like that.
Ok Mr. Air Head drum player!!!! At least I have some intelligence left, and you just admitted you gave all yours away!! So it sounds like I am ahead in the brains department, even if it is only half the time!!!!
I've missed you Mary. Where have you been all day? Again I had to leave the door wide open for you. It's still fun though.
I hate to tell you, but I had to go out today, so I couldn't wait on you!!! By the way, what's the score now? Or have we lost count? And thanks for leaving the door open, it does make it easier. But, open or closed, sooner or later, I'll still get you!!!
I think the score is tied,
Ken -12
Mary -1
When you do get me it's usually a real zinger so I figure 12 to 1 is a tie game.
You just want people to think you are really smart!!! LOL You are a riot!!
Thanks for the hug and here is one back at you!!! Hugs are good to give and receive, not matter what!! Hugs and laughter are two very good medicines!!!
Hang out clothes? here in IL that would be impossible - they'd be stiff as boards in 2 seconds. I do believe it is supposed to get above freezing today, the first time in weeks.
It's easy to tell that Gwendlyn isn't from the upper midwest.
I would die stiff dead in 10 seconds or less 20 ft across any snow. It actually was warm at the time I went out. I went to atlanta Feb. 06 on vacation and it look like London waehter to me. My friend Danielle would call it pleeky.
Agreed!! I'm in Wisconsin and hanging anything outdoors even your toes has been brutal lately. It did get to 23 today, felt like a heatwave… I almost went out tanning LOL
But now the deep freeze is coming back.. I think I'll do the not so happy dance… Is it spring yet?

Here in the part of TN I live in it is suppose to be 61 degrees tomorrow. I can't wait to get out and get some sunlight and fresh air. It is funny though, a couple of days ago we had a few inches of snow and it layed for the first time in about 3 years. Now it is suppose to be pretty tomorrow. That will lesson my depression.
We have more cloudy days in Michigan than any other state. Woohoo! They say it's due to being surrounded by the lakes. (We also have the highest unemployment, but no reason to celebrate that either.) We have a disorder that is referred to by the acronym SAD. It stands for Seasonal Affected Disorder. Quite a few folks up here get it and the remedy is to stay in really brightly lit areas. Sit under a bright lamp, or in extreme cases sleep under a bright lamp. Plus the added perk of such really cold temperatures. So whenever you see me say, "Ya gotta love it," you really do.
That is why I love the south. I hate cold weather.
i am with you. i hate the cold! beautiful weather here today in l.a. (lower alabama) i have the windows open and everything smells good!
I did too. I went outside and walked the dog. And I am getting Spring fever. I love Spring. I have a lot of active stuff planned. I am going mountain biking and jet skiing. Camping and white water rafting too. I can't wait.
I try and do this every once in a while, but usually my kids laugh at me when I do this.
There is an old saying that goes…"Love like you've never been hurt, and dance like nobody's watching." I do both with equal zeal! You ought to hear me sing.
Okay I get it. I do let them laugh but I laugh back at them, and go on with it usually I figure it's movement and that is some sort of exercise.
great advice!! I found a really good site that has helped me keep busy while waiting out the cold it is FLYLAdy.com it's really neat and full of advice about clutter we let in our lives and homes check it out.see you later and stay warm and Be Blessed to be a Blessing.
i dance til' i can't, then i sway to the muscic and wave my arms and legs while setting down, after that i dance in my mind!
Something I always used to do; and it works, I love to dance and always used it for one form of exercise. Now, I am not sure what to do. I am sorry, I lost my thoughts.
You know, I completely forgot about dancing around the house for exercise. I'm glad you posted this. Tomorrow I will give it a try! Even people in wheelchairs can use their arms to do upper body dance/exercise to music. Exercise to music is so much more fun.
I'm in North Carolina and we got hit by the snow. We had 4 inches here in Fayetteville, NC. This was the first snow of any accumulation in 3 years. Supposed to be warmer tomorrow though. Good thing, since I have a doctor's appointment at 11:45.
Thanks for the idea!
