I have been away for a time as their have been some issues going on that have kept me away.

My mother was hospitalized New Years Eve with congestive heart failure and I have been taking care of her affairs pretty much since then. Things were scary for a time but now things are looking great.

It seems pneumonia was a major catalyst and recent tests have shown her heart gaining strength steadily. While in the hospital she was on oxygen and could barely walk.

She is now back to her volunteer work and cantankerous ways and I'm thrilled.

Four days ago my wife was hospitalized with what seems to be a kidney infection that got out of control. My wife has severe ruematoid arthritis and takes medication (remicade) via infusion that lowers her immune system.

Due to some very unprofessional efforts from her doctor's office they delayed even seeing her for four days when she called in complaining of symptoms and then when they ran tests didn't do anything to pursue getting the results.

As my wife is high risk they really dropped the ball and the lady who was rude and unresponsive to my wife wasn't remembering the facts quite well at all.

I visited the doctors office and had a sit down with her and her employee came in apologizing profusely. I pretty much let them know I felt they were to some degree responsible for my wife's hospitalization. This prompted a visit by the doctor to the hospital as she tried to explain things. It was quite sad listening to her.

People have been telling us to take action but I think we'll file some sort of complaint and change doctors.

I've been a bit lax watching my eating and need to get back on track.

I was new, then gone, and am now back again! I missed being here and hope to to participate a bit more as things settle down.

I won't mention I have a head cold! :) God bless! Allan

I am so glad your mom is doing better. So sorry to hear about your wife. I'm glad you had the courage to confront the doctor about the rude employees. I too drift in & out of the group, depending on life circumstances. But I know you are all there, just a click away.

Sounds like you have had a rough time. I certainly hope you get things worked out with your wife and her medical help, either by setting a fire under her present dr. or changing drs. altogether. I know that drs. are busy, but they are busy because of of US, the people. There is no excuse for slipping up so badly with your wife's condition. Hope things get better soon.

Welcome home. I add my Prayers to the others here. I am glad your Mom and Wife are on the mend. I hope you can do something about that Dr. What a horrible way to treat anyone.

Welcome back.

So glad to hear your mom is doing better. And I hope your wife recovers quickly as well. As for your health, be sure to take care of yourself. You can't always be taking care of others and letting your own health go to pieces.

Take care.

Welcome back Allan. It sounds like things are starting to return to normal. I agree you should file a complaint, maybe with the hospital she works out of.

When you hear things like this, it not only makes you angry, but it is downright scary. You can't expect the medical professionals to be perfect, but they should definitely be held to a higher standard that most "jobs" require, since they have the lives of people in their hands.

When it's staffing problems, you have to be a "squeaky wheel"…let yourself be heard. You did the right thing by going in and confronting the doctor. We cannot continue to use doctors that we do no trust, or who seem unconcerned and/or incompetent. Doctors and their staffs have to be held accountable.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I'm so glad things seem to be better with your mom, and I hope your wife continues to improve.

Hello Allan!

It is very good to have you back. I'm glad that the medical problems within your family are easing up a bit and that both your Mother and Wife are better.

While you were gone, another member brought up a discussion concerning her "doctor" problems. I will be interested in hearing about what comes about with your problem in the future.

Meanwhile,,,WELCOME BACK!
