Have you tried grinding up you tablet's or opening your capsule's and putting them in soft food? Yogurt and applesauce work well or maybe in sugar free ice cream.
Do any of you know different ways to help someone to take Md's.

I was at the pharmacy the other day and saw a product, can't remember its name, but it's a spray and you spray it in your throat and mouth and I guess it slicks it up so the pill will slide down easier. Didn't try it so don't know if it works or not.

I do not have a problem swallowing my pills. However, there are some meds that my dr. or the instructions that comes with the meds says not to crush and mix in with liquid. My best suggestion is if you are having trouble swallowing them whole, if they are a solid pill, maybe cut them in half first. Otherwise, I would mention it to my dr about having trouble. I think that crushing them and putting them in liquid may diminish there potency. This is only my theory, however.

Fortuantely I have no problems swallowling pills. I swallow all mine at once. It's about 7 pills, but 2 of them are very tiny.

Hi! Due to sever problemsw with my esphagus I can't swallow pills. So we bought a mortar and pestel from our pharmacy. My husband crushes all the meds that are hard. He opens the capsules mixes it all with warm water. I'm lucky I have a G-tube so He uses a large syringe to suck it all up and put it into my G-tube. But maybe you could crush them and put it into the applesauce. By using the mortar & pestel you get the meds crushed throughly.

I have a restricted esophagus and either have to take my medicines in a liquid form or crush them. A few that I take say do not crush so I save those for night time. If they don't come in liquid form I have no option. When I'm away from home and have to take a pill I just chew it. I open capsules and depending on what I find inside, I either put them in cranberry juice or applesauce.

I take 18 pills a day[down from 25] But I do take 3 large pills, and my problem is they say do not crush, so my only option seems to be to cut them in half, and I'm not sure I'm suppose to do that, as one say's to take whole. Does applesauce really work? I have never had a problem taking pills until recently. Any suggestions? Robert

I bought a pill crusher at Target and could not turn it. I turned around and bought a wonderful pill crusher at Kroger's and it works a whole lot better. Good luck!

If they are large and pills( not capsules) you can buy a pill splitter and cut them in half and take them that way. My Janumet is big but I have no problem with them but I know people that do. You can also ask the pharmacist and see if he has an idea.

I was going to say what Donna said, the applesauce always worked well for me, and I used it for my daughter to sneak down medications, lol. That worked too.

Back in my younger days, I had a whole lot of problems swallowing pills. I now do much better unless I get prescribed one of those giant pills that look like gumdrops. If I do,,,I always use the applesauce method. Works for me everytime.
