I have been living with Type 1 Diabetes for 27 years now. I have never used a pump but am interested in knowing about your personal experiences. I was looking at the Cozmore but others would be fine to learn about. I research online but just want to hear from users. I recently had a kidney transplant and my sugars are harder to control because of the medicine I have to take. Thanks in advance :-)

The Cozmo is the pump my son has been using for about 4 years. It has been a great pump for him. There are many great features including automatic bolus calculations, reminder alarms, small increment adjustability in basal rates and insulin/carb ratios.

Also, recently we were able to get our insurance company to pay for Freestyle test strips so he can use the Cozmonitor which is a tester that attaches right to the pump. Now all his blood sugar and insulin data is stored together.

We have had some problems with the pump (mostly with the touch bolus). But every time, it has been completely covered under warranty. The customer service is outstanding.

I will see if I can get my son to come on and give you his first-hand input.

I've been on a Cozmo for six months now and it's been fantastic - it's the first pump I've ever used and it's really intuitive. I live in NZ but have also found the customer service from Smiths Medical excellent, which I think is an important part of owning such and expensive piece of medical equipment (we have to pay for them ourselves here in NZ!!)

I have been on the Cozmore 1800 pump since October of '08. Up until that time, I had been on the MiniMed pump (different models) for about 15 years.

I definitely like my Cozmore better. It's not neccessarily a better pump, but it has a lot more features than the Minimed. Features that give me much better control of my diabetes.

The MiniMed pump and company are excellent. Great pump, great company. I don't have any negative things to say about them.

So far, I have found the Cozmore and Smiths-Medical to be the same.

I would consider which pump best fits your particular lifestyle, then select that one.
