Well I did it. Saw an endocranologist because of what you all tell me about your encounters. I saw it as a positive step and you guys were so right. I got the best information. Doc's knows about American Indian diabetes! I started have my meds and counts. The wife does it. I just will have to work up to it soon. What I didn't know is how listless you get when counts go from 420 to 165 in 24 hours. This has happened twice and called Doc both times. They walked me through it and I'm good. Every third day I take 3 more units of insulin till I find out what works best. Not hungry but feel so much better if I eat one of the foods that go down well. It's a challenge I am motivated to befriend. Your information has brought me to a real good place and I thank you all.

Like the others, I am so happy to hear that your visit with this new doctor went well and that you feel you were given good information that will be of help to you. You may have to ask many questions and make an adjustment a time or 2 to get where you and the doctor want you to be. So don't be alarmed or discouraged if that happens. Most of us have been through that at least a time or 2. Continuing to research, read material from the doctor and asking questions will make you much more comfortable with all that you have to learn and put to use. Good luck! So nice that this site is able to provide help and encouragement.

I was always amazed how the American Indians I saw on the reservation with diabetes could run around with such high blood sugars and still feel ok, and how they felt so crummy when their blood sugars were normal. Good for you for getting your diabetes under control. Keep it up and you will start feeling much better.
