"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, our minister heard
the intoning of a prayer that nearly made
his collar wilt. Apparently, his 5-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial
should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of
the deceased.

The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of
what he thought his father always said: 'Glory be unto the Faaather, and unto the Sonnn, and into the hole he
goooes.' (I want this line used at my funeral!)

I really love that one. This is something I firmly believe and try to live by. I think that mentality (feeling small and insignifcant) cause people not to reach out and help - to volunteer. But we all have something to give, and it does all add up. If we all felt that way, nothing would ever get done. (OK. Off my soapbox. Sorry.)
