I know that my doctor perscribed Lisinopril for me to help with my kidney function. I don't have high blood pressure and that is traditionally what it is for, but she recommened that it be used of diabetic issues. NOW, it does have some interactions with insulins, but you can ask your doctor about it. I take 5mg once a day.
Also, limiting your portien intake is a good idea and make sure your BG levels are in control.

Gabby, you are exactly right. I had extremely low blood pressure and was unable to take that prescription. I infacted took a prescription to get my BP high. When I did dialysis it even lowers your pressure more. I started off witha prssure of 60/40 and when down hill from there. You are in dialysis to get fluid off you and I was getting fluid put on me so I cpould withstand the treatment without passing out. I have probably been crowned the pass out queen of dialysis. I have the scars and marks to prove that. I also want you to know to loaer your salt or go without it. I do not salt unless its already in the meal I'm eating. Now a days I use no salt, yes it hard at first but its a good idea to get use to it and start using other seasonings. I don't miss salt anymore and sometimes complain things are to salty now…Debe

Keeping your blood pressure under control plays a big part in kidney health. I don't know if you have hypertension or not, but I'm sure your nephrologist is checking that and will keep that in check.

I had a kidney/pancreas transplant 6 years ago. The kidney is still functioning, although only at 25% now. I by-passed dialysis the first time, but may not be able to avoid it this time.

MY KIDNEY DOC HAS GIVEN ME CALCITRIOL FOR THE KIDNEY SINCE I ONLY HAVE 1/2 OF ONE LEFT. I HAVE BEEN ON THIS FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW AN NO CHANGE IN MY CONDITION. WHICH IN MY MIND IS GOOD. FOR WITH OUT THE KIDNEY YOUR SYSTEM WILL NOT KEEP ITS SELF CLEAN…
