As you know, eating right and getting enough physical activity are foundational pieces of every diabetes treatment plan. But as you also certainly know, eating right and exercising are constant challenges. Good habits can slip away from us far too easily (why is that?).

Well, for anyone who is looking for a little motivation and inspiration to get on track or back on track, we hope that you'll join us for our first-ever 45-Day Fitness Challenge!

We've partnered with Michael Banks who is the founder of Body by Banks. You may be familiar with some of his workout DVD's that are available through Walmart. Michael will be leading us through this 45-day challenge. The challenge will begin on May 1st with a live online "webinar" where you'll get to see and hear Michael's unbelievable passion for helping people improve their lives through healthy changes.

If you chose to participate, here's what you'll get:
• 2 live webinars with Michael Banks, personal trainer
• A weekly eating plan designed by one of the industry's leading chefs
• A Body by Banks Workout DVD
• Ongoing support and encouragement here on DC from your fellow participants as well as from Michael
• And you'll be entered into a drawing to WIN A $500 GIFT CARD!

You can view a couple of videos from people who have participated in Body by Banks 45-Day Challenges by clicking here:

And here:

Typically the charge for this program would be $14.95. But for all those who sign up before the program launches on May 1st, you'll get all this for only $5!

To sign up and get your DVD and weekly eating plan, please call 1-855-265-7864 to speak with one of our friendly Customer Service agents. You can reach them between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm ET Monday – Friday, and between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm ET on Saturdays.

Also, we'll have Michael join in on this discussion to field any of your questions.

We're so excited to see what we can accomplish together in a short 45 days.

Are there not going to be any conversations about this program then… or do I just not know where to find them?
So far I missed the webinare, don't have the DVDs and the food plan looks like it's just saying eat only protein, salad and fancy water… lol
Am soooo hoping the work out DVDs tip the scales.
TTFN anf God Bless

The DVDs were all mailed first thing Friday morning. Hopefully, you'll all receive them today or tomorrow.

Here is the video of the webinar:

I'm really sorry for the sound being off. The tool we used to record it had a problem with the sound being out of sync with the video. But you can definitely listen to Michael and his instructions. And you can also see some of the exercises demonstrated.

And the eating plan is very low in carbs, which can help with diabetes and for losing weight. Hang in there LadyJ!

Thanks for the reply John.
Before I jump into that link to watch or listen (I got confused as to which with what you, could you please tell me how long it is or more importantly how many Mgs will it require to be watched or downloaded. I need to know so I will know if I get to watch it now, or have to wait til the next time I make it into town to the library so I can use their WiFi.
Thanks and God Bless

I've been looking around trying to find out what this is about. So far I've seen a lot of bragging about the results no information about the program. Is there a description of the plan somewhere?

Liorascs 2014-05-01 16:37:59 -0500 Report

I never got an email about the webinar. And when do we get dvd and meal plan?

Jannine 2014-05-01 09:51:01 -0500 Report

Has the challenge started? I haven't received any emails.

We had a little hiccup and some of the invitations didn't send until this afternoon. However, you should have received the invite now. The webinar begins at 7:00 pm ET this evening. Hope you can join us.

Also, hopefully you all saw the post about the drawing for a $500 gift card for all those who participate in the challenge!

Jannine 2014-04-27 13:09:49 -0500 Report

I would love to take this challenge. I've had type 2 diabetes for almost 18 years. Never did anything to help myself until 3 years ago when my endocronologist put me on Victoza. I had a horrible reaction and got violently ill. I ended up stopping after 4 days and losing 7 pounds. That got me started on eating very little. I lost 50 lbs. in 2011. In six months my A1c went from 9.8 to 5.0.

Just over a year ago I had a stroke. Since, I haven't exercised or eaten right. Depression plays a factor in that, too. I've gained back at least 20 lbs. I watch tv and eat most of the day and night, have no energy and no interest in anything. I'm hoping that the encouragement here and being held accountable will steer me in the right direction again.

Is it possible to see a sample meal plan? There are many foods that I will not eat (fish) or that I'm allergic to (citrus). Can I tweak the meal plan and still get the same results?

I'll be joining on Monday. Looking forward to May 1st.

Of course there will be flexibility in the eating plan. If there are things you're allergic to etc., there will be options for you to substitute. As for fish, you can easily substitute skinless, boneless chicken or turkey. You can even get away with lean cuts of grass-fed beef.

Thanks for your questions. I'm working on getting some more specifics about the eating plan. I'll keep you posted.

Liorascs 2014-04-26 14:37:59 -0500 Report

Sounds good. i am wondering if I can find out anything about the food plan. As specific as you can get.

This is what I call a "clean eating program." We'll cut down your sugar, dairy, and fruit. And focus on great tasting and healthy lean proteins, fresh vegetables, and healthy fats. In fact, we'll have you off all sugar in 45 days.

LadyJ910 2014-04-24 11:11:48 -0500 Report

Was seriously thinking of trying this. Made the mistake(?) of trying to learn more about it before I invested in it.
One look at the exercises shown online for Body By Banks and I knew I could never do them.

Some days I am lucky to walk to the kitchen and back or even to get out of my chair never mind jumping around and etc.

A very nice girl at the number given was super kind enough to let me see the diet part..

Once again super good idea to see before I invested or tried and failed.
I think I saw like one thing there that I could eat without problems or stand long enough to cook or afford or that even sounded good.

Oh well, I really am not good at joining things anyway.
I am sure I would have failed and so would have just been setting myself up for yet another failure.
I am good that way…lol

I am sure it will be a super good program for you all and I can't wait to read about all the wonderfulness that ensues.

Good luck and God Bless everyone !!

This Body By Banks 45 Day Challenge has been specifically designed to get results at the BEGINNER level!

No gym equipment or over strenuous movements are required. All you will need is your kitchen or living room chair. Using your own body weight you will be guided through a workout that will have an amazing impact.

I look forward to working with you and cheering you on! Give me 45 days, and I will change your life!

LadyJ910 2014-04-24 13:17:02 -0500 Report

Lol So I take it the examples I saw online are NOT for this program? Whewwwwwww
I am not sure I ever could have done what I saw.. even when I was young and not falling apart…lol

Depending on the day, I still have problems with my upper body bits so must ask, with your work outs will I hurt my ouchie bits?..LOL

Example: If I rake, sweep or just move wrong, I end up with Esophageal spasms all night, not fun and sometimes down right painful.

So… how much benefit would I get from your program if I am unable to go full tilt with the exercises and as I already stated, I will be unable to use most of the food ideas?

I don't mean to be a negative nellie or anything, just keeping it real for

Thanks for being patient with me. God Bless

I am new here and so excited to see this challenge. Hope I dont get poo-pooed here when I say I have PRE diabetes, but it is so important for me to stave off diabetes if that is possible. I need to lose weight and to MOVE! I look forward to seeing what I can do with this program.

Hey, SkyCam. No one here is going to poo-poo someone with pre-diabetes. You are among friends and you are absolutely welcome to participate and join our challenge.

Would like to be involved but worry the exercises will be to difficult for me. Most exercise i get now is walking around the house. I have started lifting weights for strength training but broke my ankle back in 2003 and never set properly. So no running, walking fast or standing for extended periods. I have what doctor calls drop foot and also get diabetic ulsers on bottom of foot. Which in turn throws my hips and back out constantly. I would like to be able to do some kind of exercise to strengthen my legs, back, stomach, etc. My will power sucks for exercise and portion control. No gym near by, no exercise equipment just me and a floor. Any advice would be helpful on how to get back on track. Just gave up trying for so long and the older I get the more I want to do the right thing

Great to hear from you! Before you get started, be sure to consult with your physician.

What is unique about my program is that you do NOT need any gym equipment. All you will need is your kitchen or living room chair. My workout is designed for you to do right out of your chair, using your own body weight.

As for motivation, I will be your biggest cheerleader. You CAN do this!

dixichic 2014-04-22 20:43:24 -0500 Report

A recumbent bike may be a good option for you. You wouldn't be on your feet but you would still be able to get a cardiovascular workout. You just build up your time every week. Never give up!!

sounds great! I don't have much to lose, but I would like to lose a little and I love to exercise, so that workout DVD would be great, I can learn new exercises, and I could always use help with my eating!

Have to get connected with a nutritionist what state are you in and you can contact your health care provider and or insurance company can direct you. You want to come on the site to get the encouragement and some guidance and also taking on the 45 day challenge as well can help.

I am ready to do this! It sounds like fun and I need the help of coaches. I just don't seem to have what I need to keep things going on my own of late. I am excited and waiting for that number to call.

That sounds like a really good deal, but I gotta tell ya - I've never had an exercise routine. Keeping 3 big dogs exercised is all the exercise I can handle.
