Shortly after the new year I decided to work on losing some weight. I was tipping the scales back then at 255 lbs, so I changed a few things, but basically maintained the same eating habits that I had always had. What I did start doing was taking a herbal weight loss supplement that I had seen on tv…I actually think it was on Dr. Oz and I began researching this new wonder drug for weight loss.
I read so many great things but could not find any negative side effects and I have to admit in 8 weeks I lost 22 lbs. But it was in the middle of this weight loss that I began having dry mouth , couldn't drink enough to save my life and I would have to urinate almost every 2 hrs.
Initially I thought it was part of the Garcinia Cambogia and I thought it was part of the supplement weight loss .
So after about a month I finally went to see my doctor and low and behold my sugar was crazy high and I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in early March.
My doctors do not think that my diagnoses is related to the Garcinia Cambogia but I'm not convinced, the timing is just to much of a coincidence.
Has anyone else had a similar issue with Garcinia Cambogia or have you heard of anyone who has ?

Hi. I am an insulin dependent Diabetic, s now, adult onset. I need to loose 120 lbs since gaining 70 after feet surgeries. So, my husband heard Actress Comedian Melissa McCarthy list 50 lbs in a matter of months. OSo I got the stuff on ebay, have tried it for almost a month not changed my ating habits too much, and my blood glucose levels have not declined, they have risen over 100 points in the Am. I have gained not lost, and have been having dry itchy skin. So wh are all the online info all about it decreasing bs levels? Clearly for me it is anot the case!

the claims for weight loss are certainly bogus … but … you gotta admit it has a catchy name "Garcinia gummi-gutta"

What I don't understand is why people fall for these kinds of things. WebMd has a write up about it and several other reviews have nothing positive to say about it. I pay no attention to Dr. Oz and I certainly would not buy any kind of weight loss product advertised on tv. Didn't you read the disclaimer?

One thing about this supplement is that calcium is added to it. This prevents the absorption of the extract. No one can tell you about side effects because supplements are not tested or regulated by the FDA.

You said you did not changed your eating habits even though you lost 22lbs. Odds are you were diabetic before you started using the supplements and when your blood sugar got high enough you started having the symptoms.

The disclaimer states "Individual results will vary." so this may not have happened to anyone but you.

The reason you won’t find evidence of side effects is because “natural” supplements and remedies aren’t tested. I doubt your diagnosis was related. At 255 lbs. you were a prime candidate depending on your lifestyle and eating habits. I’ve been overweight all my life and it didn’t show up in me until my mid-40’s. I’m with James here – there is nothing you can take to shortcut the process.

In my desperation, I’ve tried many different things – supplements, fat blockers (a nightmare), you name it. Calories in have to be less than calories out to lose weight, and nothing (legal) will make that happen except diet restrictions, exercise or both. I’ve dumped over 100 lbs. and sorry Dr. Oz, it’s the only sure-fire way.

Howdy GMV
To my mind what told me there would likely be problems was what you said: " . . . basically maintained the same eating habits that I had always had" I am wondering if you had changed anything about your eating plan at all since your Dx? Not to change one's eating plan is only asking for the same thing which got you there in the first place. I myself do not believe in any weight loss suppliment which is beneficial. I believe that to really lose weight one has to modify their meal plan. I myself have done that and lost 65 lbs in 5 mo. Should you be interested in my meal plan please ask me to send you a link.

Garcinia Cambogia is written up in webMD. One of the things I like about that site is they have user reviews so we can check on how the substance works. You can check it out here ~

And what I noted was the variability of response to this substance. For some people it seemed to work, for others it did not.

God's best to you
