Hi all!

I had been sooooo extremely tired for awhile and had started taking Metformin so figured it might have been a factor. I got to thinking…maybe Met can cause vitamin deficiency? So googled it and sure enough it is linked to B12 deficiency in some people. Apoarently some drs even tell patients to take B12 with it. So I got some good B12 supps and started taking. The tiredness is 90% better. And was better within a day. I now take it everyday.
Thought I would post it in case it can help anyone else.
Most of you likely know of the B12 connection and Met, but I did not!

I started taking a B-Complex supplement because of gastroparesis and have found that I do not need a nap every day now.

Thanks for sharing Lisa

I don't take Met, so my tiredness does not result from that, but I understand that B12 can help with that tired and run down feeling in general.

I will have to check with my kidney Dr or dialysis clinic nutrition to see if I can safely add this to my regimen and not mess up my dialysis

God's best to you!

James

I have been taking B12 supplements for 3 years now, also cinnamon supplements. I found out the connection also by googling it that met. does/could cause B12 deficiency. I wish I had know about DC back then maybe I would have found out sooner. Thank you for this post. I know there are a lot of new people who have joined DC and hopefully they will benefit from your post.

I am tired all the time but I don't take supplements. I am tired because I am busy all the time and up at night watching TV. Add a new puppy to the mix and I won't be getting much rest.

I can't even i imagine how tired I would be if I hadn't been taking B12 supplements for the past two years from what I've heard about the fatigue that goes along with diabetes if it was one 10th of what I felt that I can't imagine how people without supplementation so.
If I felt as tired as I did after all the supplements in general that I took I can't imagine how people that didn't take supplementation prior to finding out they were diabetic felt.
I was diagnosed February 28 of this year and as I said I took B12 supplementation for two years prior to that diagnosis
