I have just became a member of the type 2 diabetes family, have a few questions about it, one can you lose weight if you watch your diet and exercise when first going on meds, I've been told by doctor that I will gain some weight. i'm taking glipizide-metformin 2.5/250 mg tablets. my a1c was 12.04 after test. also suffering from some depression I've never been sick much in my life no other problems so this has scared me to death. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

I was on MET only a short time, but still lost weight during. The depression lessens the better you get at managing your condition.

Welcome. I was dx almost a year ago first as type two then blood work came back n i was type 1. Luckily my husband has been type 1 most of his, life so it hasn't been a total shocker. I cut out all white bread, pasta, rice. I use all whole grain, no instant anything but sf pudding is ok. Weigh and measure all you eat. Keep a log of bs and everything u eat so u know how it effects bs. I am also on metformin. In first three months i brought my a1c from 11.7 to 5.5. Maintaining 5.9 a1c. Can't put weight on. I've heard met makes u lose weight. If it upsets stomach, take w food. Upset should subside in a couple of weeks, if not, talk to Dr.

Good luck
