Hey. Does anyone have any advice on the effects of having a low dopamine and serotonin level in the brain. My doctor says because of stressess and diabetes my brain burns it quicker than it can be replaced. Its throwing my sugar control off and emotions are unknown for me. Havw been a type 1 for 25 years.

Thanks. The stress part makes a lot of sense. I have spoken to my doctor. He has put me on Wellbutrin, he says its the only medicine that replaces dopamine. It's just very difficult to push through the hopeless feeling. Its difficult to explain to my family what I'm going through and feeeing cause I don't know myself most of the time. Appreciate talking to people who know. Thanks.

That causes depression. Have you talked to your doctor. I have Unipolar depression because my brain does not make enough. I was on anti depressants for about 10 years. I am no longer on them because I can control my depression. You doctor should be able to help you with this problem. The main thing I did was get rid of stress. Anything that I don't control is not my problem. I got rid of all the people in my life who has nothing but drama going on and I don't take on anyone's problems as my own and I have been feeling great. Once stress is gone, your diabetes will get better and so will a lot of problems you may be having. The best thing I did was start facing problems in my life and fixing them. Good luck to you.

Howdy Gav!
Are you depressed? The neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin may be partly the cause for that. You may read up on dopamine here ~ http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_scie... and serotonin here ~ http://www.webmd.com/depression/features/sero...

Yes depression or emotional upset of any kind can negatively affect your BG levels.

To learn how to boost your serotonin levels look here ~ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2... and for dapamine look here ~ http://www.wikihow.com/Increase-Dopamine

I pray you'll get this lack corrected sooner than later
