Has anyone else had problems with Metformin and certain foods causing explosive diarrhea?
It seems some salads or fruits cause me terrible stomach cramps and diarrhea.
Please let me know if you can identify certain foods that don't play well with Metformin.

Iceberg lettuce which is found in most store bought salads has not intrinsic value and can cause gas for some people. It gives me heartburn so I don't eat it. As Lynn said, Metformin doesn't typically react with specific foods. The questions is have you talked to your doctor. You always have issues but the best person to help you with this one is your doctor.

Did you have this type of trouble with salads or certain fruit before you started on metformin? Typically it doesn't react with specific foods, but some people are more sensitive than others. Be sure to mention this to your doctor. ~Lynn @Glucerna

I have never had a problem with any foods (even beans) and Metformin. But i know plenty of people who cannot tolerate onions, beans, spicy goods etc. I tend to think that it is systemic and the body tolerance.
