I have just joined diabetic connect. I am hoping to get some ideas on what I can do for exercise. I am on a diabetic diet and I take Metformin 2 times a day, plus I just started Inonaka (not spelled correctly…) once a day. I have a problem with my left leg and hip and cannot walk much at all right now. Hopefully, it will get better soon, I am having treatment for that and hope to be able to walk soon…but until…can anyone help me with some exercises I could do to help my weight loss and to help my diabetes? I would appreciate any help!

There are many ways you can exercise from sitting in your chair. I know our hospital offers a class for just that. Maybe check with your local health care group and see what they offer.

There are many chair exercises you can do. Go to You Tube, and maybe type in chair exercises, or something like that, and lots of them will come up.

Welcome to the DC family. You Tube has all kinds of exercises on them including chair exercises. I don't know where you live, but Planet Fitness is $10.00 per month. Check to see if there is one in your area. I don't know if they have pools.
Good luck to you.

I love swimming and with limb issues, a lot of times it's very helpful as the water helps you out. Specially if it's a heated pool.

I used to have a membership to a heated pool and it truly helped sooo much, but I've had to drop my membership for a while due to finances…so I have to find another way. Thanks for replying…

It's great that you're looking for ways to be more active. If you're working with a physical therapist for your leg, ask their advice for the best type of exercise for you to do. It's usually best to schedule exercise after a meal. Any type of activity you do is progress! ~Lynn @Glucerna

For me if I am moving I am working out .
Do to bad back and knee I can not walk as much as I would like to .
So as I sit I will play with a 5 lb dumbbell , not over doing it just playing with it .
It seams to help me

Howdy Reebs,
The main thing is to get moving somehow. There are exercises you can find on YouTube where one can exercise seated. Here's a whole list of seated exercises on you tube ~ http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=s...

If you might want to change up with seated yoga check here ~ http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=s...

God's best to you and yours
