Wow. What a week! Busy mom, busy wife, busy, busy, busy!

Last Friday morning I woke up to profuse vomiting. Did that till Sunday at 6:00 am, when I just realized something was badly wrong! Asked hubby to take me to the ER, just to get an IV of fluid. NOT! On arrival, BP of 234/114, BG of 235, very dehydrated, HgbA1c of 11.4…first and LAST admission to ICU with DKA! Horrible stuff!

I had a heart to heart with Jesus those days! I have to put me first and take care of me!

Excited about the new me I'm working on! Gonna lean on some of you for support! Just warning you! Lol.

Thanks all! Any encouragement and help is greatly appreciated!

sorry you went through this horrible time, but glad you are determined to get better and have a good attitude about it. You need to take care of yourself. I did not take care of myself, after second child was born yrs ago, and because of that I am sure, is how I ended up with D. but it was caught early in my case, and it was a wake up call for me. I was just fortunate somehow that I had symptoms that sent me to the doctor, but not anything that landed me in the hospital. best of luck to you

Yes I did! Woke up this morning in the same spot I was in a week ago when my body was done fighting! So blessed that seven days later I am home with my family!

Trying to change when I eat and just make time to eat is my biggest struggle right now!

Seems like you've got your priorities straight. By taking care of yourself, you can continue to do your best with being a mom and wife.
Sometimes it takes an unpleasant surprise, or even a shocking experience, to help us open our eyes. We don't always hear the whisper from the higher power.
Sounds like you heard ( Him ) raise (His) voice though!

Guess we all have our 'come to Jesus moments'. Mine came in the form of a stroke at age 58. Boy did that get my butt on the straight and narrow. Still a work in progress but committed to getting this disease under control. This community has been a great help in that effort.
So welcome. relax, you're among friends.

We are here for you! I'm still learning how to put me first after years of putting myself on the bottom of the list. Some days I feel guilty but then I see my BG numbers staying in normal range and numbers on the scale going down. My family will have to adjust to me now!!!! You can do it. A healthier you will benefit everyone!

Howdy Mzbehaven!
Please feel free to lean on us, that is part of why we're here.

I ask you to look at my profile and invite me to be your friend if you think it good! (somehow my ability to look at any profile, even my own seems to be fouled up at this time. A request to fix it has been sent)

A couple of questions. What type of diabetes do you have and for how long? How are you trying to manage it, diet & exercise, pills, injectable meds, insulin?

Praying God's best for you and yours

James Baker.
