It's a new year and time to resolve to improve. I've been thinking about what I can do to help my son better manage his blood sugars for a healthier 2009.

We've had a challenge with tracking the numbers from his meter because we use Mac computers. None of the tracking software is built to work with Mac's. As a result, it has been tough to really have a good view of what's happening with his numbers.

So I did some investigating and I've come up with a plan. I've ordered everything I need and within a day or two, we'll be downloading and charting his numbers. I'm hoping that this will help him have better control in 2009.

What will you do to have a healthier 2009?

I am making it my goal to continue to eat properly, exercise and keep my numbers where they should be. I lost 58 pounds so far and have more to lose. I am hoping that this is the year I hit my goal weight. I got a bit off track during the holidays, but am back doing what i'm supposed to now. Lisa

I have started the new year by typing up medical alert information, and producing 8 ID cards that are essential, but I have been putting off because of denial. All physicians number, contact numbers, medications, allergies, etc. Did them on photo paper with 2-sided tape. Then laminated paper ones. Also, finally bought a medical alert ID that will be used. It is a key chain, and it is the only thing that Jim will use. He will not wear jewelry. I have been searching for something for a couple of months. Am happy to find something he will use. I will keep helping him with his health, but not policing him. Claudia

As a new Type 1 diabetic, I'm still learning so much. I have signed up for classes at my local hospital because I'm still very confused about all of this. I have also started an online diabetic course that Amy posted to gather more information. In other words, I want to educate myself as much as possible and get back to a somewhat normal life again. Take care, Angie
