I've been drinking and smoking for about 4-5 years now, how bad for you is it to drink alcohol? Is it life threatening? And is smoking weed really bad for a diabetic as well? Should I stop all together or just have a little at a time? Because frankly I'm a party person and I don't think I could give it all up together, so what's the best way to deal with this? Should I be concerned?..

From personal experience. T1 30 plus. The late 80s are a little fuzzy. Did a lot of drugs and alcohol. You can survive. Problems most likely will show up later in life. Should you stop yes will you that's all you. When problems a cure don't blame anyone but yourself.
Good luck

I agree with jaya. God I'm so happy I didn't get diabetes when I was younger too aka in my party animal stage. I'm not ancient old but I've grown out my partying stages. I still want to let loose sometimes and I admit, I've gone a bit crazy with drinking but i sure as hell don't do it as often anymore or even at all anymore.

I used to smoke a lot of pot too but that was back in my partying days and I've stopped. Also, smoking cigs, once as I was diagnosed diabetes, I quit smoking a month after.

I would like to say I am doing great-other than I need to be eating better and working out because I've been slacking.

Best of luck to you. Just don't wait Til it's too late meaning…don't regret it in the past. Ie: partying and neglecting ur condition.

Howdy Chief!
Drinking alcohol can be done safely by a Person with Diabetes (PWD). However, one has to be careful that you don't go hypo (low) during the time your liver is shut down dealing with the toxin that is alcohol. I have found it better not to indulge except for special occasions like New years or weddings.

As far as damage which could be done to a PWD smoking weed, you could do more damage by overindulging on high carbohydrate foods. That does not mean that there is no damage done by smoking marijuana. Please check out this article ~ http://www.medicaldaily.com/marijuana-use-cau...

I don't know how old you are but when you get my age, you need all the brain power you can get. I am glad I didn't get into it when I was a youth. If I did I might be a blathering vegetable by now! LoL!

I'd encourage you to stop both behaviours. After all are parties all about the ways one can abuse themselves? Or instead of hanging out and getting to know the PEOPLE in the party?

God's best to you!
