The goal is not to raise your levels more than 40 points in a meal, If the general guide is to keep your levels below 140, then I would not say you have to wait to eat. You may want to eat a lower carb meal if you are thinking you might go more than 140 two hours after you eat. But only your meter can tell you that.

Do you test after your meals?

And what did your test reveal after you ate when you started at 99?

Those are not bad numbers for post meal, so I would not worry about waiting to eat for a lower number. It sounds like you are doing a good job.

I don't understand. Why would you wait for your blood sugar to go lower to eat? It could get too low and you could end up in the hospital. If you haven't done so, go to a diabetes education class. The only time I am concerned with eating is if my blood sugar is over 150 which is rare. Even with it high, you still have to eat something. A morning reading of 99 is good fasting reading. Only you can decide to eat. I am not going to tell you when to eat.
