My doctor increased my Lantus to 11 and before meal Novojunior to 1 unit less. Told O.K. to have 140 average for day. Because reading 8 She wants to add Victoza to shots. I was wondering if increase Novo rather than lowering it wouldn't be better and Victoza could be omitted.

My Lantus is28 once a day, and NovoLog depends on what my glucose is before a meal, and what I'm about to eat. Victoza never came into the conversation. My doctor said as long as I'm using the NovoLog to correct and add for carbs, I'm fine. He increased the Lantus because my A1c went over 8. I wasn't about to tell him it was because I eat too much. I've begun to eat less, and I now have a dog that tells me when I need to check my sugar.

Thank you for responding. I'm beginning to think Dr's should inform the patient of whats going on with the A1C and look at the patient first to see if they can come up with an answer. I believe in the diabetic educator and finding the reason rather than giving more med. People are happy with Victoza bec they loose weight. I'm the opposite I don't want to loose weight. The side effects scare me. Dropping to a low when no one is around is a fear and I want to be smarter. When 8 and I know to high felt comfortable knowing I am not going to go to low. Fear. Thank you.

I would recommend trying the changes. The doctor usually won't do that without cause. But I would talk with you doctor.

You are welcome. If there is one thing I have learned in the last 33+ years of being diabetic always follow what your doctor ask of you. If you disagree ask questions ad to why they are making those kinds of changes.

In reality the best person with which to discuss this would be your Dr! Please return to her, or email her if you can, and advocate for that change,

From what I remember from another posting in another discussion your aunt died from pancreatic cancer due to Victoza? I would say again that it is a very valid fear on your part.

God'd best to you and yours
