I was suggested since my movement is limited, to start doing Aquatics. I am sign up to start in April, only being my Mother won't drive in snow. They said this will help me build my muscle mass better. I was wondering has anyone here done this? Did it help you alot?

I have done these and it is fun. I like the stress free feeling of the work out. My knees are so happy!! LOL. Even just swimming laps is great. anything becuse you get moving a lot of things you don't normally. You will enjoy it Debe...just don't wear your pedometer in there. LOL!

I have been going to the pool for several years now. Even on days I don't feel like getting dressed and going in to town to the pool, I feel so good when I get out even if I haven't done any of the exercises. I can't stand but for a minute or two and the same with walking but in the pool I can walk a long time before I start hurting! It feels great!

Jim and I have wanted to do this for so long; worried about the cost. It sounds really helpful; I have mobility problems, back, a neck probems too, and would love to get more exercise that would not hurt but sooth as I read. Do you know who to contact and if there is a place to go with insurance or pay scale percentage? Claudia

Claudia; Check with the Y. They usually have a sliding scale for membership. I was on a limited income and they lowered the fee for me. My daughter just got a membership at a lower price. Mind you, I'm in Canada, but that should be true with all Y's. So check it out, make an appointment and talk to them.

I go to the senior citizen center. Our pool is 4 ft. deep all over the water is around 85 degree all the time. I have really enjoyed these aquatics. I can't wait to go,I go three times a week. The water just feels so good to these old creaking bones.

I do water aerobics three times a week and it's great. Our class is in 10 ft of water and it's quite a workout!! Take your time and build up your strength. I teach sometimes and I always tell people to go at their own pace but to put forth their best effort. :)

I do this and also swim laps now a few times a week. The YMCA is my other home.. LOL But now with all the snow, I've been walking in the house too just to get some exercise in besides shoveling snow!!!

Welcome to the world of 'fish'… lol (I've been called that since I was a little kid because I've always loved swimming)

This is so good to hear. I know they have a lift to put me in and out of the water. I can't climb steps yet. But I really need to get all my body limber up and yest I do love the water…Debe

The pool I go to has a lift also, plus they have a ramp to walk down. I use that because I cannot do stairs or those ladders for the pool.

I will be using our Hospitals health center by my house. Boy if they didn't have a lift they would only be able to get me out with a tow truck.(LOL) Or I be in there and look like a raisin until I was able to climb the ladder…Debe

Deb, I have done aquatics in the past, I lost weight and improved muscle tone from it. It is alot of fun if you like the water, LOL! Try and find others to go with you, that gives you even more incentive. I went with my daughter and sister-in-law. We had a blast and not the soreness that some other exercises give you.

Yes I do water aerobics, in a class called Squeaks and Creaks, it is for people with limited movement. I have back problems so the warm water really feels great plus I am exercising. Nothing too bad just movement. If you can not do something just move your feet or arms. That is what the teacher says. We have heart patients, amputees, back problems, overweight people, all kinds in my class. We meet 2 times a week for an hour,
